The theme of "nostalgic innocent thing we grew up with having an evil twist" is used a LOT in games. FNAF, Poppy's Playtime, Amanda The Adventurer, etc.

But this still does a good job. The animations and sounds on everything is superb, and the gameplay/level design perfectly executes the Resident Evil formula for combat, puzzles, exploration, and resource management (I can't remember if they added the option to save you game for without coins yet or not).
