The Worst Weather You've Seen

We've all seen some type of severe weather in our lives (unless you live in Antarctica, which probably does get blizzards, tsunamis, or something as far as I know.). Post any severe weather event that you've been through at any point in your life. Please include the type, date (if possible), and watches/warnings issued for that day/week.

Mine was about 5 years ago (I can't remember the precise date). It was some time in the afternoon, probably around 3 or 4 PM. A tornado watch had been issued earlier for the day. I was at a friend's house, and the sky was pitch black as if it were nighttime. I slightly remember there being a brief bout of severe lightning. I had decided to drive home since it was quite possibly the worst storm that I had ever actually experienced. While driving home, it was eerily calm. While about to drive onto another road, I saw what appeared to be a green sky far off in the distance. I continued to drive since it (fortunately) hadn't arrived in my city. When I finally made it home, no storms occurred, surprisingly. After several hours of just sitting at the computer, I checked outside. Clouds were covering the sky completely, but they were grey and white. There were no more storms for the day, but a few neighbors had come over, and we kept babbling on and on about the severe, albeit brief, storm.

...I'm expecting a "COOL STORY BRO", or something involving ponies from alphabetagamma.

The worst weather I remember was probably mild compared to the worst weather I've actually experienced. I do remember a lightning storm last summer but that's all I can remember. Blue will probably make me look like an idiot, I've probably forgotten some hurricane we had last week. The Pegasus ponies around here are relatively lazy, they don't bother setting up storm usually.

I envy you for not having any memorable storms. And nothing involving ponies.. Mark your calendars, people.

I know you *mentioned* ponies, but your post didn't revolve around them (thankfully).

Oh. Yeah. To get this thread back on topic, we had a VERY severe lightning storm two days ago. Lightning about every few seconds and lots of rain.

In Erie a few weeks ago, a severe thunderstorm struck. Our place was on a hill, so you could see this massive storm coming over us and passing over the valley. We were in the dark red of the Doppler radar.

I've been in the red of the Doppler radar once.. *and* my county was under a tornado warning, but it was sunny outside. My county is pretty huge, though, so it could've been for another city.

Nothing really happening right now, but we did have some pretty insane snow storms in Wisconsin during winter.

They call me Snake. They call me Es Rake. They call me Srahkay. That's nahmaname. That's nahmaname. That's not my... name.

Worst weather would have to be a flood on the Coromandel Peninsula. The water level was just below a metre from what I can remember, other than that. Nothing memorable.

Back in September 2009, we had a monster of a flood. Here's a picture of a subdivision almost underwater.

I remember there being an unusual amount of rain in 2007 that caused flooding across the country. I can't think of anything else.

Feel free to PM me about almost anything and I'll do my best to answer. :)

You guys here about that 5 day long blizzard in the midwest a few years back. I was in that.

It was definitely that time that the Earth blew up.

You remember, and we all escaped to this planet on the giant Space Ark...

...and the government decided not to tell the stupid people, because...

...OH.

:lol::lol::lol:

But seriously, I was passing through Colorado one evening about 25 years ago when 10 tornadoes came through Denver. THAT was a nasty sky.

He just kept talking and talking in one long incredibly unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so that no one had a chance to interrupt it was really quite hypnotic...

What'd it look like? Green? Really dark?

the worst weather here was in 2009, when at 4pm my school flooded and we had to evacuate the building, but we had to carry little kids cus the water was above 1.20 cm high.... it was a pain to walk to my house that day...

Can't remember if I was 3 or 4, but an F5 tornado passed within 2 miles of my house...

Lots of blizzards, and massive thunderstorms, so nothing really memorable except for one winter... -70F without windchill. I went out in shorts and t-shirt, and played in the snow for about an hour before coming in again. (no I didn't get frostbite, or even anywhere close to frostbite, was lunch time)

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.

Wow.. you're pretty accustomed to the cold.. And an F5 passed within *two* miles of your house? Did you see it, or better yet, hear it?

An F4 tornado passed within about 5 miles of my town sometime in the '70s, I think.

I went up to the kitchen to get a drink of water (remember, I was only 3 or 4) when my parents weren't looking, and I stopped and watched it through our sliding glass door... Awesome sight.

If I saw it, I would've defecated enough bricks to build the biggest tornado shelter on Earth.

Hurricane Ike. Spin off tornadoes from that. Yeah it wasn't fun. A 30 ft pine tree barely missed my house, a branch from it put a good hole in the roof. It was fun fixing that  .
