Okay, well if there is ONE thing that bugs me about MLP, it's that Pinkie Pie has pretty much solidified herself as the poster pony for all things merchandise or official. You see her everywhere! On the Hub when they say, "You're watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!" You see Pinkie, that candy bag (from what I've seen) only has Pinkie on the front, it's like there's never any ponies at the front. Now don't get me wrong, I love her to death and she's pretty much eaten my heart and puked up one of those cartoon hearts but pink in my chest, but how about some other ponies get time in the spotlight? If anything, Twilight should be on the front, I mean she's supposed to be the MAIN, main character, right? I dunno...

Its because A) she's pink, which Celestia knows the merchandisers love, B) she's always smiling and happy, C) she's the cartooniest (in voice, appearance, and actions), D) she is the most traditional-looking pony (only one with curly hair, Earth pony, and as mentioned pink), and E) She broke the fourth wall, so I doubt anyone could have stopped her.

My theories:

 

A. They decided to add Derpy last minute, so they didn't give her as much direction.

B. They assumed she knew the character, seeing as how everyone else does.

C. She started recording lines before they told her she was a she, and they didn't think she was trying to be male, so they just went with it none the wiser.

D. They are all horrible at their jobs.
