Damn, that's a cold, cold choice. D is obviously superior to all, but Jedi is pretty close (assuming Anakin doesn't factor into your career).

Depends on which era of becoming a Jedi. If it's the Clone Wars era, or even the Old Republic era, I'll pass. Now the New Republic under Luke's tutelage? Then we might have something to talk about.

Overall though I'd probably pick D. at this point in my life.

Equestria, and hopefully a pegasus. I'd like to be able to fly. :3

And what's this about shallow existence? your life is what you make it, who said you have to live like everyone else in that land?

Well let's just take a look into what you're really entering into.

For the sake of argument let's treat each choice like it actually exists.

Option 1: Not a very appealing choice really. While you may get to learn a lot it's also probably the school with the highest death rate in history. You'll also miss learning about more scientific and artistic subjects. Really it would completely restrict your future to magic. There also seem to be a great deal of dangers even knowing of magic's existence. Combine that with a government that is cruel, ineffective and secretive? You get a rather unappealing option.

One of the least desirable option from this standpoint. Complete control of one's emotions are necessary to not fall into the dark side. Being a Jedi is probably one of the most dangerous options as defending the galaxy from god knows how many threats is not considered safe by most people's standards.

I don't know where to even begin. Devoting myself to either doing grade school level research on animals or training them to near kill each other does not really fit into my dream life. No clear government, an extremely weak law enforcement agency composed of a relatively small number of identical twins/clones, a disturbingly large and open criminal empire that seems unable to do anything but harass teenagers, ambiguous physical laws and near universal acceptance of horrible animal cruelty? No thank you.

And finally, the philosophical and physical limitations of living in a colourful world inhabited by magical ponies, among other creatures, that seems to be seriously lacking in political, scientific/technological and societal advancements in over 1000 years is not at all desirable to me. While the horribly flawed dictatorship government which is for some reason ruled by a princess, (or two princesses if you count Luna, who hasn't really done anything yet) which is defined as the daughter of a sovereign, rather than a queen. Who has, for some reason, thought it fitting to not bear any children, while naming herself a title usually reserved for a hereditary rule system. Not that she would need any seeing as she's over 1000 years old. Perhaps living for such a long period of time seeing as rather than send a trained unit of soldiers, experts, etc. to take care of a dragon, she decides to send her pupil and 5 friends. I could go on forever here, but since this is already way tl;dr, I'm done.

Well the whole "subtle" approach didn't work. So I guess I'll go the more attention... seeking route.

Any criticisms? I'd like to improve it as much as possible. I mean I probably won't fix anything now considering how I'm kind of sick of vectoring at the moment. But just for next time. The more I look at it, the more I notice plain ol' mistakes. :(

I like the way you say things abg. Can you do more?
We'll see. I have things I have to do too.

Honestly, I can't agree with you on this one ABG. I honestly don't care about the political system. Everybody is happy in Equestria, it seems. Every single pony has a purpose and can live contently with that purpose. Everybody is a potential friend, as almost all people there are friendly. Celestia, all memes and biases aside, seems like a rather benevolent ruler, and as long as I'm treated properly and given decent liberties, I don't care if things are run as a monarchy. Give me my rights and I shall not fight. I would LOVE to live in Equestria.

Agreed. Simpler does not mean worse, by any means.

Perhaps ignorance is bliss. But socially what is done can almost never be undone. Would you honestly give up all your material wealth, your family, your friends, your entire world? Your right to vote? Wouldn't that be a removal of your rights?

Wouldn't a position given to you at maturity in the form of an cutie mark be a removal of your right to free will? If everyone at ten truly wanted to be a policeman or a fireman, and they didn't get their cutie marks because that's not their true calling, then isn't their cutie mark deciding for them? If every ten year old did get a policeman or fireman cutie mark because that's what they truly wanted they wouldn't really be able to change what they wanted to do because it would be permanently imprinted on their backside. Do you really have a free will to decide what you want to do with your life?

Truth is, Equestria isn't really a very free place. Nor is it very fair, pegasi and unicorns have a massive advantage over earth ponies. Unicorns could easily dominate all other ponies. Unicorns can use magic to do literally everything that the two other "races" can do.

Equestria is probably as much a true eutopia as North Korea.

I'm not taking part in this. I have my reasons why I would gladly leave this world behind to live there and they're reason I'd prefer to keep to myself.

I also see a flaw in your cutie mark argument. You make it seem like you're cutie mark is predetermined. I think the whole point behind those was they appear when you finally truly know what you want to do and enjoy it. Not some guessing game in which you spend 10+ years of your life guessing at blank cards until you get the matching one, whether or not you actually enjoy that.

And like Fluttershy, I don't give a flying fuck about politics if the end result is a happy life.

My point was that people's desires for life change. I've heard stories of people passing medical school, only to go to law school to become a lawyer. I was asking what a cutie mark really is. If it's earned when you realize what you really want to do, what if you change your mind later? If it's what you're destined to do in the end then do you really have a choice in what you're going to do?

Ed Edd and Eddy probably don't get this much analysis on negligent governing systems on how they belong in federal orphanages.

Your discourse does a disservice to our enjoyment, as enlightening as it may be. :|

This is a nice metric server. No imperial dimensions, please.

If you value comfort and security over freedom you deserve neither.

Might as well change my title to "Gunslinger" with a sig "Sometimes you just need a little less fun.

ABG, I think you're missing one key detail. Your Cutie mark does NOT always determine your career. A cutie mark can be vague or specific. A pony like Twilight has a cutie mark that simply signifies magic, but not what she can and cant do with it. The apple famiky, however, are naturally good with apples, so they are designated to keep an orchard, and enjoy themselves doing it. The thing with cutie marks is they identify your key talents or they symbolize a career that will make you always happy, depending on what kind of pony you are.

How the hell'd you screw up the BBCode on this one? o.o

I agree with Flutter, at least to the point where the BBcode bucked up and I had no idea what he said past that.

Also:

Loved the new episode, Granny Smith is now 20% cooler.
