WHAT?! Don't they realize half their fanbase depends on that for their weekly dose of ponies? When you take those down, people who live in New Zealand or Germany etc. can't watch the show! WHAT THE FUCK?!

Also people who can't afford/access The Hub.

 

I only get scared when they start taking down pony-related stuff. I don't mind them taking down episodes since they're hardly in the wrong and I know they won't stay down for long.

The problem I have isn't even that I want to watch illegally. The problem is that I have where I live no access to the hub, Youtube and other streams are the only way for me to watch this show, so personally I do kind of mind this. They should just put them up on Hub.com or Youtube, that way they could make direct money from the large fanbase they have gotten and bronies everywhere still get to watch MLP, its a win win situation really.

So what did you guys honestly think of my very first Fanfiction chapter (not to mention my first time writing a story at all) and my fan game idea? It's not often I make something that isn't a Let's Play and I'd like feedback on my first try at writing (but please be gentle).

Questions of the game:

Sound interesting enough. Does it have a plot? What sort of engine or system does it use? What player feedback is there to indicate success or failure/

 

Criticisms of the fiction:

It's very short and has several grammatical errors like the ommision of the ending to one of the things Spike says.

For the fic, you constantly switch back and forth between past and present tense. Don't do that. It's bad. Your dialogue is decent, but frankly, that's all it is. Be more descriptive. You have to use sensory details to absorb the reader into the environment. Just saying "He said this. She said that." is only half of the story. And, pertaining to what Blue said, using details makes the piece longer and allows you to suck the reader in. A short fic will entertain the reader for a short time, while a long, detailed fic will absorb the reader and make them wonder what comes next. I grabbed this link to give you an example of a really well written fic (no, its not mine. I'm not that full of myself.) Use it to help you along with your own writing style.

Pinkie just reminds me of how I used to be vs. Me now being more Fluttershy. I used to be so carefree, outgoing, and happy. Now i'm very kept to myself and I'm depressed almost constantly. Oh, and if you guys ever feel like I bitch too much about my own life, please let me know. I don't want to ruin anyone's day talking about that kind of thing.

If you hadn't narrowed it to mane 6, this would be tougher, since I like Luna and Derpy, but I think this just about matches my feelings.

In retrospect, that wasn't any easier. I knew Pinkie & Twilight would be in the top 2, but other than that I must have switched around each of them to each spot. Though I whole-heartedly agree with Applejack's rating per-race.

 

Speaking of Pony races, has anyone else noticed that we have seen the family of the Earth Ponies and Unicorns, but not Fluttershy or Rainbow Dash's?

How about maybe rather than splitting up they somehow get separated from each other and have to find their way back to the group(the fist 6chapters). And then together they take on the bigger problem(the last chapter).

For the game I've only sort of got the plot figured out so what I've gotten written is likely to change. Also as for the engine, it's probably going to be AGS and it's going to be the usual way you know you got something right or wrong in an adventure game (the character says something like "I can't use these things together").

 

As for the Fanfiction, I'm sorry for the mistakes but like I said it's my first time ever writing a story so I really don't know what I'm doing.

 

Edit: As for all of the dialogue, well when I was writing it I was thinking about how parts of classic Doctor Who can have that before things really get started... and I've been watching a lot of Classic Who.

IMO the thing that draws people to MLP is that we can all pick one of the characters and relate to her personally. Twilight Sparkle for example appeals to me because I've always been kind of socially awkward and I love to learn and study (at least things that interest me). I plan to be a librarian/archivist, even. I have...difficulty with making and keeping friends, and I get really uncomfortable in groups (Even something simple like waiting on something with people nearby.) I tend to avoid people or push them away when they get close, and I do that by being kind of a dick. I hate it, but honestly it kind of just happens without my consent. That doesn't really sound like Twilight, but yeah, it's still pretty close to home for me, her troubles with friendship and fitting in.

 

Anyway, on to more cheery things, if you were a pony what would your cutie mark be? No idea if you've been over that already, but big topic and LAZY reader here.

 

Mine would be a scroll next to a quill and ink pot, to represent my ability to complain.
