There is this literary or psychological theory that women can be seperated into the mother, the sister/daughter, and the lover. Since there are 6 and not 3 of them, you could say each is seperated into the id (basic human/animal desires, uncontrollable/impulsive) and the ego (dealing with reality, thinking).

 

Twilight is the mother ego (caring for spike, hatching his egg, solving problems usually from a point of superiority)

Fluttershy is the mother id (a bit of a stretch, but she deals with basic needs and is animal-centric)

Applejack is the sister ego (pretty obvious)

Pinkie Pie is the sister id (uncontrollable, impulsive, sisterly in that she does pranks and is friendly to everyone)

Rarity is the lover ego (she does have desires, but not animalistic ones, and is very practical)

Rainbow Dash is the lover id (obviously an id, could possibly switch with Pinkie)

 

But hey, this is just my psychoanalysis, and I'm not even taking psychology until next year.

If you've been living in an internet cave, I suppose you don't know that Lauren Faust's latest animation has received a disturbingly large following outside of its target demographic.

Yeah, I'm having doubts here. Hasbro knows how important these streams are(or why would they otherwise go against the norm and keep them up in the first place). I am almost certain this is another attack of anti-bronies(for example Habsro).
