He has a great topic, but I can't get over the fact that he talks like it's a high school speech and that he spelled "perception" wrong.

I'm looking at tomorrow's episode with caution. I'm not sold on Weird Al being in the episode. I fear he might just annoy me because his songs got pretty old and not-very-funny for me after middle school.

Well, the episode apparently got leaked, and from what I've seen, the response has been quite positive so far. I've been seeing 'favorite episode of the season' and 'they can't top that, everyone pack up and go home.' I'm not planning to watch it until the weekend, like usual, but that seems promising.

Also, apparently there's a hurricane of cheese puns.

Well then, that's good news :D

I now have really high expectations for it, though that's probably not good. Otherwise, I'm depressed as fuck right now. My sleep schedule is absolute trash and I have no drive to do anything, so my Fic is stagnant. Looks like the pre-Timberwolves won't be doing anything soon :|

My thoughts while watching the episode:

If I wasn't informed that Weird Al was going to be in this episode (and be Cheese Sandwich) I wouldn't

of known that was him. (Now I'm not a Weird Al fan, but I don't hate his work, and I don't have what he sounds like

memorized, so that would be why I wouldn't of known he was in this episode.) Song catchy, and good, I like the continuity with Baby Cakes, and although I don't like Diamond Tiara (who does?) having her sing, nice touch. Although, it didn't sound like her. Pinkie did a Pinkie Promise with a real cupcake, nice touch there. Second song was good. Poor Pinkie, all sad and depressed. Third song, was awesome, depressing, and then up beat. I also liked the continuity/nods to the previous songs/episodes. Derpy at the chocolate fountain, priceless. Alright, 4th song/duo was pretty good, I loved the puppet/live version of Boneless/Gummy. There's that rainbow spark/shine again. Now why is it always rainbow? And not, let's say, their respective colors? Could Rainbow Dash hold all of the keys? What does it all mean?! Anywho, I like how Pinkie forfeited the contest cause she realized she wasn't keeping her promise, and seeing Pinkie sad makes me sad. Geeze, a lot of songs, all ranged from good to pretty good. The rainbow shimmer on Boneless, is this the real key? The world may never know. Also, I like the moral that you shouldn't let your pride get the best of you. Overall another great episode.

Might be my favorite episode of the season so far.

THE LEGENDS WERE TRUE! THE WEIRD ONE HAS COME FOR US!

I had heard rumors but didn't believe it till I saw it myself. They even have him sing and play the accordian, and at one point he even sang Smile Smile Smile, my favorite pony song. I was in heaven man.

As for the episode itself, I really liked it. The set up of Cheese was interesting, as he was not a classic villain. Unlike Trixie or Lightning Dust (or whatever her name was) he wasn't a jerk, unlike the dressmaker he was actually good at his job, and unlike any other antagonist his goal for the entire episode was legitimately to make everyone in Ponyville happy, and no big twist that it was for selfish reasons. And yet through all this, he is still the antagonist, because he's going about things the wrong way and let's competition get in the way.

I think CF might even like Pinkie in this episode, she's acted much less like a weirdo and a fourth-wall breaker. It's a more serious episode about how she feels important to the community.

AND THE SONGS. The first one I felt was a little too much like something you'd see in a kid's musical, but I was like whatevs, it's still a song. THEN THE REST. AHHHHHH. SO AMAZING.

EDIT: And let's not forget this madness

Brace yourself everyone, incoming CheesePie ships. I'll be in the royal bunker.

Anyway, I just watched it, and it was just awesomeness. I like how Pinkie is actually shown to have faults and insecurities, and isn't just comic relief. After all, that's Fax Machine Spike's job.

I also think this is a really good lesson, one that the show hasn't covered yet. I might be misremembering, but I don't think we've had any episode that focuses on pride yet. It shows that the writers haven't run out of ideas yet, which is always nice to know.

Another thing I want to discuss is the way that Pinkie's friends kind of got swept up in Cheese Sandwich's (sandwiches? Fuck IDK) entry. They all kind of abandoned Pinkie, and were kind of jerks about it (RD was at least). It reminded me a lot of A Canterlot Wedding. In fairness to her friends, Pinkie did specifically say there wasn't a problem, so it's not all their fault, and they did make up afterwards.

If you think about it, maybe that's a lesson that they all learned after A Canterlot Wedding. Pinkie got a better and more sincere apology than Twilight ever did, and Pinkie wasn't even the one in the right this time. Meanwhile Pinkie lets her pride get the better of her, and when she sees what she's doing and is literally packing up and leaving, everyone rushes to reassure her and welcome her back. I just thought that was really touching.

Anyway, everyone on the internet is raving about how amazing this episode is. I thought it was really good, but I wasn't that overwhelmed by it. Maybe it's just because I don't really listen to Weird Al.

Holy

Fucking

Shit

Definitely a great Pinkie episode. And an awesome moral that I kinda saw coming. When they used the live-action cuts of boneless and Gummy, it reminded me of old Spongebob and Between the Lions, if anybody remembers that show. I was glad to see some serious Pinkie and a complete lack of arbitrary "dumb" humor. Good job, writers. I'm fairly certain that's currently my favorite of the season.

All the songs were gorgeous. Diamond Tiara's got some fucking pipes. Weird Al's speaking voice is different from what I expected. He also sang much more gruffly than he normally does.

Shiny, you were right about me. But it was Hub confirmed that Weird Al would be in it. They had commercial previews and everything.

Yeah, I can pretty much consent to everything he says. As far as that last joke at the end goes, I got the reference, on account of the fact a lot of my childhood was spent watching westerns on TCM, so yeah, I didn't bother me as much and it wasn't THAT silly.

Here's the link to the newest episode

And here's my thoughts on it as I'm watching:

Balloon Pinkie, awesome. Also, it looks like they're making up for the lack of Derpy/the Derpy scandal for having Derpy, not only show up a lot this season, but in obvious spots, and being derpy. I'm liking this. Either Rarity has a crush on Trenderhoof, or she's his "number 1 fan!". Or maybe both, also, why is Spike smiling at this? Shouldn't he be jealous? maybe we'll find out later. His voice sounds familiar, I can't place on who though. Saw that coming (Trender liking AJ). Spike's reaction to Rarity, priceless. "Unappreciated" *Points to Derpy*, nice touch there. Rarity trying to be Southern, funny. AJ, being all fancy, and both Rarity and AJ fighting, nice. I like the lesson of being yourself, don't pretend to be someone else. Also, turns out Trenderhoof is voiced by Doron Bell, someone I do not recognize, but somehow his voice sounded familiar. (Not the first time this has happened to me.) Overall another great episode, oh and there's this:

Pinkie was funny 2 eps in a row. My hopes are rising :3

Awesome episode overall. Another great moral that immediately triggered memories of watching Spongebob. (I'm the laziest pinkest starfish in Bikini Bottom, and I wish I were me and not SPUUUNNNJBAAHHHB.)

Trendy McTrenderson was on-and-off. Sometimes he seemed cool and humble and sometimes he was a total narcissistic jack-off, which felt inconsistent. The poem was sooooo predictable but it was still very funny.

And my ability to relate with Spike this episode shot up like a MoFo. Girls you like crying on your shoulder while they keep striving for some other guy. Spike, you are officially in the friendzone. We'll be great friends here.

Rarity's accent was hilariously offensive. And when she was with Trend, did anybody notice the suggestive subtlety the writers put in? "Climax" and "Au Naturale" for example.

Spike is so deep in the friendzone he makes Snape look like Barney Stinson.

Anyway, this was a fun episode. Rarity made so many faces that I just know will end up screencapped and captioned. It's also a great moral, one that in hindsight kinda seems like it should've shown up sooner.

Also, what's with the recent trend where new stallions look so...sharp? That guy's edges could pop Pinkie's balloon head.

One thing that stood out to me was how Applejack's 'new' accent was so incredibly well done. Even though she suppressed it there was still that hint of southern drawl that you just KNOW the voice actor had trouble getting just right. It was a nice touch. They could've just as easily gone for a totally proper accent that didn't seem fake at all, but they went the extra distance and made it better.

Overall, really good episode.

So, the more I'm listening to the Japanese versions of the MLP songs (like Smile, smile, smile and Find a pet) the more I'm liking them over our version.
