It started a long time ago. Back when the first movie was released, Midnight Castle (or something), I'm sure there were guys who liked it.

Technically, there was an obsession of sorts with the old MLP toys back in 2005 or so and probably earlier. There's no doubt in my mind there's a grown man who's been a fan of MLP since it came out in the 80's, give or take a few years, somewhere out there.
