does Binding Keys to cheats disrupt achievements?

I can get more cheats from steam.

In games like Portal and HL2 at least just enabling sv_cheats disables achievements.

Well, the thing is that cheats cannot be enabled unless you have sv_cheats enabled, regardless if you use bound keys or not. The only difference is that a key bind is like writing the code with the press of a key. You still need sv_cheats enabled to use cheats, and so far, having it enabled disables achievements by default. I sort of worked around it but I can't remember how. It was pretty simple though.

Well, the whole point about achievements is that you're supposed to actually achieve something and when you use cheats you're kind of not really achieving anything. As I said, I don't remember how I worked around it really, but I think it involved a lot of saving and loading and restarting the game, so just experiment with that.

There are quite a few hacks out there that will bypass the sv_cheats scans... You just have to find a good one that isn't full of viruses. (they are multiplayer hacks)

I don't recommend this suggestion at all, it'll most probably result in a VAC ban.

I can only concur, don't do it before it's to late.

 

My friend got banned accidentally by Valve when they thought he hacked in Left for Dead and boy, he messaged them 5 times that he never hacked and they didn't reply or anything. His Steam account is banned forever, now he can't play anything on Steam, so he downloads pirate games.

I managed to use cheats to get some Portal achievements, and it didn't really affect anything, so i assume it only counts for multiplayer cheats. But yeah, I would be careful.

Non-cheat commands.

For example, sk_strider_num_missiles_1 # sets how many RPGs it takes to bring down a strider on easy difficulty. Set it to 1 and it makes Neighbourhood Watch much easier.
