Off-Topic:

Except for that Marc Laidlaw has stated directly that the gearbox-stuff isn't taken into account as seen here:

Well, Valve is being stupid then. i can't just forget about the expansion packs, in fact my favourite game was Opposing Force!...

"...and much more concerned with how to move the story forward and open up the universe; so I only take the games created by Valve into consideration when I am working on the story...there are more than enough potential contradictions in our own designs without me worrying about contradictions in the inventions of other developers who were not part of our initial creative meetings."

"The whole issue of canon is something the fans came up with. I guess you will be able to identify as canon those story elements we continue to build on and develop and mention repeatedly as the story progresses. Others might fall by the wayside once they've served their purpose."

"I am going to swear off contributing to this bizarre argument about canonical versus noncanonical works."

So pulling the relevant sections we can see says he doesn't look through the expansions when he is writing for future HL games but either does he say that they are irrelevant to the over-arcing story and the fact BS provides how Barney and other scientists got out. As such Blue Shift can be considered canon while Opposing Force at this time can go either way. Lastly how was BS/OF canon stuff relevant to this thread?

On-Topic:

I never said that website was the half-life bible, you asked for material so I linked the appropriate information. Please do not put words in my mouth.

We are talking about the Half-life world not specifically Half-life, by the way, I never meant to anger you in any way, so I apologize if anything I said was provocative.

I knew of the websites but I thought maybe we could have a discussion here specifically if anyone found out anything.

"When a son is born, the father will go up to the newborn baby, sword in hand; throwing it down, he says, "I shall not leave you with any property: You have only what you can provide with this weapon."

Dude, first of, those are add-ons not mods. Mods shall not be considered but add-ons are official story line additions.

Was that directed at me? Because I never called them "mods"

I don't think they're asking you to forget about them necessarily, they're just saying that they aren't too worried about contradicting the expansion packs when making the newer games. You can still enjoy the game even if it isn't relevant to the sequels.

I can't enjoy it if it contradicts them though like where the hell did the x-race dissapear.

I've read the Half-Life bible actually. Found an ebook torrent of it.

Eh? Is that Half Life 2: Raising the Bar, or a completely different book?
