Well, this turned out just as fun as I thought.
Some highlights:
NOPE
Grindhouse
> Game with no music
> Instruction how to play: “turn on some good music”
“No, not that kind of game”
“Effort went into this” is pretty much a death sentence
Ross’s brutally honest takes:
Game: STARDROP tells a genuine heart-felt story about a long lost starship, its crew and one individual in particular.
Ross: The ‘heartfelt story’ ratcheted it down. If it wasn’t for that ‘heartfelt story’, this might be a winner.
Ross: I don’t like your music but I hope you make enough money to not die
Game: Timothy succumbs to the darkness
Ross: Timothy looks like he doesn’t care
Ross: This is a game where, you know, people discuss, like, ‘Oh, are games art?’ Well, this one is, but I’m not sure it’s something I want to play
> 1:23:14 “All games are art, but some are the equivalent of shit smeared onto a canvas” (c) xlLambylx
Game: It is an autobiographical representation of some of my experiences being mentally ill.
Everybody experiences mental illness and trauma differently. This game is representative of some of my experiences, and no one else's
Ross: Off-colored people just walking around having coffee
Game: A serial visual novel/mech brawler about four gay disasters beating up neonazis in giant robots made of meat. “Wild, melancholy, funny, and willing to take absolutely none of your shit.” – Wired
Ross: Just a bunch of grumpy looking people with their arms fold
Game: Remember me
Ross: I’d rather play another one
Game: Come back
Ross: Probably won’t
Ross: the Pringles Man drops acid
