And that's called utilizing it wrong. Doesn't make it as a whole wrong.

Except I've never played a single player game that's done it "right".

doesn't mean they don't exist.

The only place I think I'd find it good would be in squad based FPS games, like Rainbow Six.

Thats one of the strong points of the system. It makes for better team strategizing so you can have a variety of people for different situations rather than just having everyone have everything.

As for not working in singleplayer, that depends on the game.In games like DNF, HL, or Ratchet and Clank where you are pretty much the single-handed savior of the universe, it makes sense to have the character be a walking arsenal who can take on different enemy types via various methods. Then there are games like Fallout 3 or Borderlands where you don't keep all your weapons nor stick with very few, and thats supposed to reflect the scavenger-like nature of the games. Games like Call of Duty or Gears of War try (or tried) to reinforce the idea of being another cog in the machine, a nameless soldier (hence CoD protaganists getting shot and Gears having coffins on their chests).

By all rights, Bioshock should have had weapon swaps to enforce both the supposed normalcy of the main character and the "everything just barely works" nature of the game. Halo, by all rights, should be a weapon wheel game, if not for the similarities in weapon types causing redundancy (but thats a whole other topic).

And thats why I hate chatting live. I can never organize my thoughts before the next guy.

I seem to remember having 9 weapon slots in Fallout 3. And 4 in Borderlands.

4 is sufficient for me as it allows for a variety of playstyles to hop between- Sniper for long range, Rifle for mid-range spray, Shotgun for close range and Pistol for weak enemies you don't want to waste ammo on. 2 weapons would only work for me in a squad based game because instead of having one guy that can approach a situation, you have a few guys that do the same job as Gordon Freeman's arsenal does.

The amount I want Bioshock: Infinite seems to go from not-at-all to I-really-want-this-game almost every week.
