It's a good start, but it's not nearly as far as it really needs to go... You still have to be given the server code by the owners to be able to anything.

You're not wrong, we're not all the way there, but hey - if people can reverse engineer WoW servers, we at least have the capability to do anything - even if it'll be... Really, really hard in practice. At least companies can't put a stop to reviving dead games, now.
