A 2D sidescrolling JJ3 would float my boat into the skies. 2D platformers can look absolutely gorgeous visually from the art alone, JJ2 is an example of that in my opinion, now imagine if such art had a modern graphics engine at its service. *eyegasm*

Blizzard - All their RTS games (I hate WoW.)

Bungie - Halo series

Nintendo - Common, You gotta love Mario/Zelda

Rare - BACK IN THE DAY of the N64 they pretty much were = to Nintendo, though the quality of Rare is somewhat lacking these days. I still have fond memories of their older games. Banjo-Kazooie, Golden Eye, Donkey Kong Country.

Capcom - I love their fighting games. Capcom vs ___, Street Fighters.

Valve - Left for Dead, Half Life.

YES I REALIZE THIS IS SIX, GET OVER IT!

also they are not in any order.

"Alyxx Thorne: Batman/10"

"HLPrincess: Also, I'm very proud we have Batman Himself on the Forum."

They also made BlackThorne, a very badass take on the Prince of Persia style of action games.

Bungie - Halo series

And they made Oni and Marathon.

Nintendo - Common, You gotta love Mario/Zelda

And Metroid!

Rare - BACK IN THE DAY of the N64 they pretty much were = to Nintendo, though the quality of Rare is somewhat lacking these days. I still have fond memories of their older games. Banjo-Kazooie, Golden Eye, Donkey Kong Country.

You'd be surprised to learn that most of the NES games published by LJN were made by Rare, such as Nightmare on Elm Street and X-Men... yeah, they've come a long way since then... And they made GoldenEye and Perfect Dark as well.

Capcom - I love their fighting games. Capcom vs ___, Street Fighters.

Resident Evil. Megaman. Their Nintendo Disney games. I can just throw out names all day. End of line: They're awesome.

Valve - Left for Dead, Half Life.

And Steam. Not really a game but they deserve credit for it.

Yes, but sadly they don't seem to intimidate Microsoft, so GfWL continues being an excruciatingly stinky pile of pigshit.

Needing two 3rd party clients to run a game is ridiculous. My comfort zone is no client at all and games that are tidy (don't make a mess outside their own root folder, like in the Users areaI. I am willing to deal with either GfWL or Steam. If the only way to play Quake 5: Return to the Netherworld, System Shock 3 or Jazz Jackrabbit 2D 3 was to use both of these clients on top of one another I wouldn't spend a penny on them, I refuse to vote this shit over myself with my own wallet. One would think that in the times of runtimes, APIs and frameworks it would make development and playing of PC games easier, but no, thanks to clients and DRM it is more of a pain in the ass than ever before.

Indeed... That's why I usually run games with a cracked exe, even when I get them legally. (exceptions being anything on Steam, some multiplayer games, and anything that doesn't have DRM)

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.

Valve: HL, HL, HL, HL, and Portal is in there somewhere

Bethesda: On of the many kings of RPGs. Oblivion onward, not a single miss.

Treyarch: Wait, what? Woops, meant to put this one in the Worst 5 Developers thread. (This is just my bias, but completely disregarding PC gaming when you have one of the largest budgets the gaming industry has nowadays earns two thumbs down for me. Oh, and the fact that they planned to release modding tools a year after the game was released just pissed me off.) Please forgive my rage

Bioware: Mass Effect. 'Nuff said

Dice: I am willing to forgive the complete un-Battlefieldness of BC2 in lieu of their great track record with BF1942 and BF2

Crytek: Ok, so maybe Crysis 2 was a step down from its previous games, but Far Cry and Crysis are by far the most advanced games and both do a great job at story telling.

Valve - Due to known Classics and modding community.

GSC Game World - Cossacks is my favourite strategy game, also they made American Conquest, and Stalker.

Apogee/3d Realms - Wolfenstein, Blake Stone, Duke... Lots of other stuff we forget, pre 2000's.

Blizzard - Controversial I don't like any of the Warcraft series (Including Wow) just the GSC rework called Warcraft 2000: Nuclear Epidemic (Where You can have up to 8000 orcs and humans fighting XDDD) but I do have a soft spot for Starcraft and Diablo is also decent.

Infogrames - Common Guys, I can't believe You forgot this one. Alone in the Dark 1, 2, 3, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Civilization 3...

"When a son is born, the father will go up to the newborn baby, sword in hand; throwing it down, he says, "I shall not leave you with any property: You have only what you can provide with this weapon."

Blake Stone - Interactive food units, non-hostile NPC's, stealth gameplay... Clearly one of the 90's most underrated games. And it has a nice 50's sci-fi style to boot.

They had nothing to do with the development, they only published it. Engine and game were made by iD Software.

Yeah, and they didn't make Blake Stone either, I think some developer called JAM-something did that.

But one thing Apogee/3D Realms can take credit for is creating Duke Nukem.

Wow, apparently not even that. Sorry folks, from now on I'm donig more research about the games I play. 3d Realms and Apogee are exactly like EA... except they published better games.

And then they failed on Duke Forever,

I change my mind to:

1. Valve

2. GSC Game World

3. Id Interactive

4. Blizzard

5. Infogrames
