Marc Laidlaw Retires from Valve

So someone emailed Marc Laidlaw about the state of HL3, and Laidlaw responded by saying that he can't answer as he has retired from Valve after 18 years. Here's the link of said email:

If EA buys it, nothing will save it... EA cares only for how much money they can rip from people's accounts, and couldn't care less about the games or the people.

Yeah, I have too much hope. EA just needs a CEO that won't be instantly corrupted by the money-making machine. It really needs to be fixed.

 

That being said, to make this on-topic, so does Valve. I feel like they have been doing all the wrong things. The market, greenlight, horrible customer service according the average person, stopped making actual games... List goes on. Somehow, they still do very well. Can't say they are failing.

Well unlike a lot of companies, Valve actually listens to the community which is something... And I doubt they have any worse customer service than any other company out there. Also, Valve has a lot of games that are always running and need updates and constant attention, so they got their hands full on other things, and they're working on behind the scene things. Sorry, I'm a big Valve supporter. XD Feel free to tell me to shut up. XP

Always kinda sad to see when an employee from an industry like this retires though... Such good games were made with the help of this person!!

Well it was said that EA DID try to buy Valve for a billion.

Gabe Newell's response to that was that Valve would rather disintegrate than sellout. His quote:

“It’s way more likely we would head in that direction than say, ‘Let’s find some giant company that wants to cash us out and wait two or three years to have our employment agreements terminate,’"

 

Yeah, I have too much hope. EA just needs a CEO that won't be instantly corrupted by the money-making machine. It really needs to be fixed.

It could be doable, once the majority of the gamer community starts waving their middle fingers against EA, and EA's experiencing their personal Video Game Crash, but that's going to be a long way's off.

Yeah, I agree with *how* it is doable, I just disagree that it *will* be doable. As long as they get paid sufficiently enough for what they do, it will continue. There's no enough press out there willing to expose EA's despicable nature, among many other companies as well.
