I'm actually new here, but i wanted to start with the right foot.

 

I wanted to Leave this playlist of an old FLASH game i've played way back.

Seeing that you also play flash games i wanted to share it.

The name of the game is Mardek Rpg, and despite the simple look of the game, i find the music quite good.

Also, the soundtrack is for sale too, the songs in the playlist are some of them, but not all.

You're amazing for mentioning that one. I'm not going to get into the whole "fall of the developer" stuff but that's a big reason why I love that music.

Natural Selection 2 -- a game no one thinks of because it's a genre that you wouldn't expect to have a great soundtrack. It's epic sci-fi that has some orchestral and "organic" industrial stuff mixed in.

Vangers, in and of itself, is a great candidate for Game Dungeon. It's an obscure vehicle combat game developed by the Russian studio K-D Labs. It's a game creating something completely alien out of seemingly understandable concepts, abusing the vocabulary and your perception of reality to create a world that works in familiar ways, but... Isn't familiar. It's a game whose first level feels like being born anew, and it's really just the tutorial section.

 

And its soundtrack's set to match! Using the same vibe as the game itself, the composer mixes weird mechanical and half-organic noises into a very appealing tune, creating something that I, personally, can enjoy, but I can't match it to anything of this world. Could just be my own inexperience with music in general, but it's a soundtrack I just couldn't not recommend.

 

This particular video is the full set, but it seems distorted somewhat, compared to the actual audio files from the game. Game's available on Steam (fully ported to work on modern systems, but still running at 800x600 resolution in order not to confuse its voxel graphics engine), and the music is easy to retrieve as it's contained openly in a .ogg format, but since the game isn't abandoned and, in fact, is fully functional, I feel like YouTube's the best I should post here.

Aight, so the game this soundtrack is from Re-Volt (1999), which was basically kinda like Mario Kart but with RC cars.

The game itself is kinda hard to get your hands on these days through legal means, and I don't know of any digital retailers who have it available either, unless you count the frankly quite crappy ports done for iOS and Android.

 

But yeah, about the soundtrack. It's really freaking good. Categorically it would probably be Trance/Goa-Trance, so vocals are pretty rare in this soundtrack, unless you count the few samples that are mainly at the Main Menu track (And I swear, that track is bound to me at this point, couldn't forget it even if for some strange reason I wanted)

Guilty Gear Xrd has a pretty kickass soundtrack with a lot of metal. The lead designer of the series is also the composer for it, and a huge Queen fan. You can hear their influence in a couple of tracks. If you can get past the singer's accent and some weird lyrics there's some legitimately good rock and metal there.

 

 

The rest of the music is pretty easy to find by looking around on soundcloud.

 

The recently released PC port on Steam comes with the vocal tracks, which make for pretty rad driving music. Unfortunately the themes used in-game are compressed to keep the game's size from bloating (there are a lot of them), so they don't sound as good as the vocal tracks.

The soundtrack was composed by Ryu Umemoto who unfortunately deceased, Aug 16, 2011. A veteran composer of visual novels and shooters, known for composing the games such as Eve, YU-NO, and Akai Katana. Its strange to me that he only ever worked on sorta seedy titles because the music he made was really amazing. Lots of good old synth music. The music is awesome. YU-NO is actually a super long (80 or so hours) visual novel RPG with an actually good story, it just also happens to have a lot of sex in it. Not gutter trash like the usual guff.

Lagrange Point - Famicom

 

There is the Nintendo Famicom Lagrange Point Soundtrack. What sets it apart from your usual NES chiptunes is it used Konami's VRC7 sound chip containing a YM2413 derivative providing 6 channels of FM Synthesis audio. It was only used in this ONE game to its fullest extent. Never came out in USA. Tiny Toon Adventures 2 kinda used it too, but who cares.

This is "Kick the beat" by Andreas Viklund (June 1998). I found it playing an Unreal Tournament 1999 mod called "Monster Hunt" where you go through huge levels with up to 32 other players online in coop shooting the shit out of 1000's of monster, doing puzzles, platforming, beating gigantic bosses.. man its a real blast.

 

This song plays on one of the user made maps (MH-ShootingGuysObnoxious) and was in the UT game's .UQM music format. Found out who made it using Modplug Tracker which can open .uqm files.

• Metal Gear Rising: My guilty pleasure. Every song is a metal mix, and the vocal tracks are simply amazing. There are also non-vocal mixes of the vocal tracks. The only problem is that whoever mastered it wasn't paying attention to the spacing, so if you're not listening with a good Equalizer running, the vocals sometimes get muddled in with other instruments . • Crypt of the Necrodancer (Metal Remix): A great soundtrack made by the one and only DannyB. However, I'm instead going to recommend the Crypt of the Necrodancer Metal Remix done by FamilyJules7x. This was released alongside the main soundtrack on Steam, but the version on bandcamp is way better.
  • Remixed to be actual songs (not like the loop versions on steam, these songs have actual endings).
  • Extra songs not in the steam version.

  Trust me, as a person who owns the Steam version, the bandcamp version, and one of the limited printing CD versions, this is a kick-ass soundtrack.

So I haven't been here in a long-ass time. Things have probably changed a lot since my last time here. I'll cut the pointlessness and get straight to the point.

I'd be surprised if anyone here knows about this game. The music is from Lisa the Painful RPG, successor to Lisa (the First). The game takes place in an wasteland-ish world where there's no women around. The game's plot, setting and characters revolve around this one fact. While the soundtrack is a bit "gamey" for my taste I still think it catches the game's many themes. If you're into cruel, hard choice, emotion grabbing games, try it out!

I've never actually played the game that this comes from, but this song is from the trailer and I always thought it sounded rad. The game itself seems pretty neat. From what I understand the gameplay is a mesh of Thief, Dishonored, and Splinter Cell. I think the game's mostly unknown because I don't remember hearing much buzz about it from when it first came out even though it advertised itself like like a AAA game. Maybe it released the same time as a more well known franchise did. Anyway, enough rambling. I just wanted to post this since it takes no time to do and you put out some quality videos. The Ace Combat series of PlayStation (except AC6, you pedants) arcade military fighter aircraft games (don't call it a simulator!) have always been in my go-to bag of music. Some of the tracks do indeed fall into the "this is just in the background so it's not gonna be too interesting" pitfall, but many of them are just great and they come in a myriad of styles and themes depending on which game they're from. Unfortunately, I'm no audiophile and my MP3s came from who-knows-where ages ago, so I can't really get a guaranteed great-quality source, so I'll have to stick to the ease of YouTube. Sorry. Here is an obscure one, IMO the best from Tzar: The Burden of the Crown:

The style is medieval, it's based on a national Bulgarian song about tzar Ivan Shisman and the fall of the Second Bulgarian Empire. The game is an RTS from 2000, created by a Bulgarian studio, I'm not sure if it's still for sale.

 

The song is on a playlist, so in case you like it you can check the others out.

Some of them are good, some of them are hit-and-miss.

 

Another recommendation I have is the soundtrack from Red Alert 2, which I am 90% sure you must have heard (you've probably even mentioned it somewhere), but I'll share it anyway, just because it's worth it:
