What's your name about?

Recommended Posts

I wanted to go for a username like "some random guy" or something like that. So I came up with "that guy". Sadly though, after a few seconds had passed from creating my account, I realized I wasn't being very original since there was a character on Futurama who never mentioned his name and therefore was called that guy.

I thought what the heck and made him my avatar (also my sig is a quote about him by Fry). If you're going to be unoriginal you might aswell make full use of it

It's the Italian version of my first name. Which is Hungarian name but comes from a Hun name the greates Hun conqueror had. His name derived from the "Proto-Turkic" word Ata meaning "Father" either in the religios or political ("leader") meaning. Strange name to be Honest.

My surname is Kalender (Dutch), translate into English... And that's the end of this story

We have the exact same word for Calendar in Norwegian as well.

Kalendaryo would be its Filipino term.

"Kalendarz" in polish

"Naptár" in Hungarian. Well that is life being a native Non-Indoeuropen speaker. Nobody understands my native language abroad

Hungarian language is really weird. I like it because it sounds a bit like my own, but it's more twisted

If you want to see something twisted be sure to check out those Hungarian cartoons from the 80s. You won't need drugs to feel like you're high.

Mine was originally OddsAgainst (and I have since reverted back to that in recent years), but lovely Battlefield 2 registration made me mess up so many times in registration that by the time I got it to work, my name had morphed into GoodOddsAgainst. It represents my skill at games, the good odds are always against me.

My name has a sort of convoluted history.

In 1994, I first subscribed to a BBS. I needed to pick a screen name and I wracked my brain trying to figure out a good one. And then the Karate Kid came on TV. Since my RL name is "Daniel" and the kid's called "Daniel-San" by Mr. Miyagi, I picked the name "DanielSan" as my screenname.

This stuck with me as I got a webpage on "Geopages" which soon became "Geocities". So, a long time later, Geocities was bought by Yahoo. Yahoo eventually shut down Geocities e-mail addresses so I reregistered with Yahoo but "DanielSan" and "Daniel-San" were already taken so I took "danielsangeo".

And this is how it is today.

When I made my first E-mail adress I was memorizing the greek alphabet (for no reason :geek: ) and thought alphabetagamma sounded nice. Unfortunately I always get refered to as "alphabet" !

My name came from a friends statement. Because of the fact that i never smile or laugh and have a short temper, he made a joke about me being pissed off all the time. So, "Pissed off dude" didn't sound too good, i decided to make my name Madman.

Maximum fuck about to be given in 3... 2... 1...

My name is really the result of a lack of a name.

I do call myself DJ Quail in the music industry because my last name in Russian means "Quail".

And by the way my real first name means "Grand Glory" in Ruthenian (Old mix of Russian/Belarussian/Ukrainian/Viking language) aka "Vyache slava" or Vyacheslav in the correct format.

My story is a common one, I needed a name and couldn't think of one; I liked the Arbiter character from Halo 2 and went with that, the numbers came randomly. I'm not especially fond of it, but I've been called Arby for years in real life for years now and it's kinda stuck. I have been increasingly using "Arby McArbybucks" lately, out of an in-joke with my friends.

And I thought you are german or something...

Arbeiter means worker in german and it's read like Arbiter in english.

Honestly I actually thought you're username was named after "that guy" from Futurama (Dr. Zoidberg lost his shares but gained a sandwich)

Anywho, onto my name: Well first when I first started the internets, I was 13, and my old name was Grim, cause I wanted a name that would stick out, catching your attention right away, but I got too much attention, a stalker if you will, so I had to change my name and leave everything I used to go to. I was around 16 when I came up with "Psychotic Ninja". my reasoning was "Well I'm a fan of ninjas, it would be cool to be a ninja, but it would be even better if I was a psychotic ninja... WAIT THAT'S IT!" and that's how I got my name "Psychotic Ninja". Now I will use variations of it, if needed, like PsychoNinja, P5chotic Ninja, etc. etc.
