These are the games that have stood out to me beyond the rest of games I like:

Bloodborne - Beautiful game both in visuals and gameplay.

Wolfenstein: New Order - overall great game but I just love the method of storytelling they used in this; specifically the whispered thoughts of the protagonist.

Risk of Rain

Terraria

FTL: Faster Than Light - These 3 games are shining examples of how amazing a game can be without needing a 3rd dimension.

Dying Light - Pretty much everything I ever wanted in a zombie game. Could use some improvements but one of the best imo.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat - To this day possibly the best gun-based open-world(ish) RPG I've played

Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - I recommend TES as a whole, but I recommend this above all else. The controls and gameplay are highly outdated but of the series it has THE best story. It's worth it for that alone. I've played the game for years and i still haven't seen everything it has to offer.

Final Fantasy 7 - Had some of the most memorable character of the series(even if the derivative works did kinda mess up Cloud. He wasn't ever THAT emotional in the original game. He was very sarcastic) and the gameplay holds up very well. People underestimate how creative you can get with the materia system.

Starcraft series - One of my favorite Si-Fi universes of all times. Gameplay is both balanced and fun and the universe and characters are extremely well written.

These are the games i've played and impressed me to some levels. These are games for PC and/or PlayStation (1, 2, or 3):

1. Gran Turismo - I'd recommend this over Need For Speed when it comes to environments, car physics (though that depends on the game), and roster of cars. Also, the feeling of winning a race, especially the endurance ones, is SO darn good.

2. Max Payne (1 and 2. I haven't played 3 yet) - The noir theme of the 1st two games, the use of graphic novel art to tell the story, Bullet Time, the Kung Fu mod. These stood out for me and makes me come back to those games.

3.Postal 2 - This is a recent favorite of mine. I love the variety of weapons in this game, the gore factor, especially when you decapitate people, and then there's the Postal Dude. I like to think of him as the 1st neurotic individual before the "Freeman's Mind" Gordon Freeman. I'd consider this a perfect game for when you want to vent your anger.

4.Tekken - Let's just say this is a good game to settle arguments with, or make bets on who's winning (it's something me and my cousins would do with each other)

5.Grand Theft Auto - Story-wise, i'd choose IV. In my opinion, IV has the best story in a GTA game. Also, Nico Bellic's character is probably the most memorable for me, next to CJ.

Welp, now what?

Morrowind: Exactly the same reason that Rarity said, it has an amazing world and the feel of it is so alien and out there, plus the Antagonist has to be the most amazing antagonist I have ever seen. Elder Scrolls as a whole is really good though, especially when you get into the lore and then the deep lore

Fallout 1, 2, Tactics and New Vegas: All four are great games that deserve the highest recommendation because of the world and story they have, I wouldn't really recommend 3 as the only good part of that game was it's combat which is improved by New Vegas.

D4: full name Dark Dreams Don't Die is basically a weird Boston detective show in video game form (Made by a Japanese game company) about a detective who can travel to the past. It's a really quirky, silly game but it's a lot of fun, even though it was made by a Japanese game company they really hit the nail on the head and actually seems like it was made by an American developer.

I feel like when you guys make these massive lists, you're just browsing your Steam library and picking out whatever you think is good enough. XD

Games I recommend: The Portal and Half Life series. Too good to miss out.

There's also the new "Until Dawn" game that's out. I REALLY recommend that. It's so friggin amazing. The graphics make me want to cry (in a good way).

"Ross, this is nothing. WHAT YOU NEED to be playing is S***flinger 5000." - Ross Scott talking about himself.

I'm not that much of a Sega Genesis fan but here's some I'd recommend:

Alien Soldier

Altered Beast

Castlevania - Bloodlines

Ultima IV - Quest of the Avatar (Basically a straight PC port, but with better graphics, and no typing.)

Ecco the Dolphin

Snatcher (Sega CD)

Rocket Knight Adventures

Starflight

I've never played Star Trek - The Next Generation - Echoes from the Past, but I mean to and I think I'd like it.

I heard the Phantasy Star series is pretty good, but I've never played it.

Some people would recommend the Shining Force series, but I think the Fire Emblem series is better.

Super Mario RPG

Command and Conquer: Red Alert

Spec Ops: The Line

The Stanley Parable

Hotline Miami

Silent Hill 2

Resistance: Fall of Man

inFAMOUS

Prototype

Super Smash Bros. Brawl/Melee

And I think that's it for now.

No one worth their opinion would argue that, it's everything after the first Modern Warfare that is borderline (debatable) crap.

Man, didn't expect to have this many replies (kinda shows that I forgot a little bit about this topic, A LITTLE)

Again, thanks a bunch for the recommendations, been trying out and playing most of them over the last months. Also, couldn't really get into RTS, maybe I should give it more time, but for now, I'm not really interested in them (except Starcraft).

Highly recommend Fallout 4. With mods. (there are thousands already, most aren't just reskins, and the mod tools aren't even out yet)

Is Fallout 4 with mods really that good? I was really hyped at first, but then when I saw gameplay, it kinda felt like a watered down New Vegas with prettier graphics.

Still, if I manage to get a new PC or a PS4 by christmas, I'll consider buying it.

It is nowhere near watered down... If anything, there is more to do than there was in NV, (including all expansions) after modding it with over 180 mods. The performance improvements on top of the improved graphical representation result in being able to run this at the same settings as NV, on the same laptop, and get the same framerates. (much improved framerates if you use the fog removal mods)

Yes, they kinda removed skills, but they were rolled into the perk system. (which feels really well done, though it could use a few mods to expand it a bit more IMO) They removed the ability to craft ammo, and integrated the New Vegas/Skyrim settlement building mods. Extensive weapon and armor modding system, and I highly recommend getting the Legendary Modification mod. (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4042/? - It allows you to add/remove/move legendary effects from weapons and armor... Bottomless clip size Missile Launcher is possible, and don't get me started on the Mini Nukes!)

Also, I'm currently running with 110 mods... I'll be making a list of them in the Fallout 4 thread.

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.
