This is the second best I've ever been, and I've been on.. lezzeee.....onetothrerrrr... five? Best of current.

The Escapist Magazine forums rocked back in 2007 and early 2008, but ever since Zero Punctuation became popular the forums started to really blow. The point at which they made the Religion & Politics (aka Outspoken Atheist and mostly American generizations for better or Worse) sub-forum was when I really stopped caring and started focusing on finding a new forum to spend more time on.

The mark of a good forum is a good community, and the things that notate that are Politeness, genuine interest in the opinions and personalities of the different members of the forum, and a certain charm to the humor or tolerance to everyone's collective stupidity. (What? We're all idiots, and the more we realize that we don't know, the more we know. Ya' know?)

Uncoincidentally, all the indicators of a healthy forum community are all the same indicators of friendship.

I've been on a philosophers forum before this, and, they were mostly jerks not only to me but to each other.

And then I've been on a german forum.... where members mostly went to the porn section of it. Imagine it being over 2000 pages long.

I like this community here more than any other forum community I've been to. It's international, has a charm, and is helpful too.

So, hail af forums.

The smileys could be better though ..

And yes Bill, I yelled that all out and pointed a finger.

I used to frequent the Bungie forums a few years ago. There were things like the Drawball Wars and lots of other good stuff in The Flood section. However, I enjoy these forums a lot more since I can get to know everyone. There were so many Halo fans that the forums were always busy and only a few people here and there knew one another.

This has taken place as best forum I've been on. the first one I joined was just FULL of ego and elitism. If they didn't know you, they didn't like you, so naturally it made new member activity rather low. Then their was one of the global mods made administrator who seemed to have the biggest ego of all. The second he made that position, I stopped visiting. Last I heard they changed forums to a new provider and it looks as if they've been even less active than us, despite them having at least 10k more members. Guess that's what happens when you alienate everyone who just joined.

I have been on a bunch of forums. But never for long, because either the community just isn't right(either to mature or not mature enough) or it grew to big(i like "smaller" forums because you actually get to know and interact with pretty much everyone in the community). So far i like These Farms the best.

This is the first forum I ever joined, and frankly, I think it will always be my favorite. You guys and gals are awesome. :)

I don't like writer's block, I prefer to call it writer's parry.

The Escapist Magazine forums.

Don't. Mention that place near me. It does not end well for anyone.

I love you, yet can't stand to know you exist.

Come to think of it, you're right.

Every user that was actually cool got banned for pretty minor infractions. I even got suspended seven days for posting a picture that didn't have words alongside it. There are fewer than a dozen users who continue to browse that forum that have been around since before it was popular and thus would even know what that forum would look like were it fairly decent. Of course none of them would take any strong effort to change the behavior or culture of the forum at this point, seeing as it's both too popular and has too many new users created regularly than would be feasible to change anything.

Seriously? I mean I've seen strict forums, but that's ridiculous. The Nexus Forums has the population of some small cities with hundreds of new members a day and even they aren't THAT strict. I mean they do have a "no crap tolerated" policy due to the amount of members, meaning there are no warnings. But that's because they're only run by about 20 or so moderators and like 3 admins so they don't have time to keep track of the "warnings" they dish out.

They do have a logged strike system for the lesser offenses, though.

Last I checked their member count is nearing 2.5 million.

The magic of cynical fuckwads making game reviews.

You better not be talking about Yahtzee because his reviews are very entertaining.
