alphabetagamma Posted December 26, 2011 Hats aren't inherently annoying. It's what they've done to the TF2 community. People with rare hats usually feel superior, so they act superior. A disturbingly large number of people scam for hats and other items while others people pay stupidly high amounts of money for them. What Valve has done with hats has changed the community in ways many people don't appreciate. Share this post Link to post
Collective Foal Posted December 26, 2011 I see your point, but I always tend to take one of two paths in my liking of something. I either 1. Like it/Love it/ Want some more of it (+rep if you get the joke) 2. Just don't give a care. So the TF2 community doesnt bother me when I dont care for it, but I love it when it does awesome things like making good community maps, huds, and custom skins. Epsilon Posted December 27, 2011 Now Team Fortress 2 has held my interest for nearly 1200 hours, but I'll assume the "anti-hat" position here. As alphabetagamma said, hats aren't intrinsically a bad part of the game, but Valve spends way too much time adding them instead of fixing bugs, nerfing/buffing items, and such. Do you feel blame? Are you mad? Uh, do you feel like wolf kabob Roth vantage? Gefrannis booj pooch boo jujube; bear-ramage. Jigiji geeji geeja geeble Google. Begep flagaggle vaggle veditch-waggle bagga? Collective Foal Posted December 27, 2011 Also noted. I still don't give a care, but it would be nice if theyd beta test weapons before official release... Life is just a time trial; it's all about how many happy points you can earn in a set period of time Share this post Link to post
Axeldeath Posted December 27, 2011 They do, it's called TF2 beta, it should be on your games list. Do they still use that? Share this post Link to post
alphabetagamma Posted December 27, 2011 They do, it's called TF2 beta, it should be on your games list. Do they still use that? The point was they didn't beta test them despite having a beta. If they did at all they sure didn't do it enough. Share this post Link to post
Collective Foal Posted December 27, 2011 Exactly, and no, they never beta tested the christmas weapons. Life is just a time trial; it's all about how many happy points you can earn in a set period of time Share this post Link to post
Doublenature Posted December 27, 2011 I disagree. First of all, I fail to see how hats ruined anything since they are virtually useless in game. Also "all 12 year old with no skill"... YA NO SHIT SHERLOCK. Of course someone who is new to the game is not going to be good at it. And the 12 year old part is just stereotyping. I just can't stand that kind of attitude. What I meant with no skill: Using OP weapons and shit, instead of actually having some kind of skill, and no, this is not only for new people to the game. A friend of mine (who happens to be 12, not saying ALL 12 year olds are like this..) claimed he was awesome at tf2, so I said: "Proove it, if you can get 10 kills in a round with the original weapons, I believe you". His K/D was at -15. And the hats, make tf2 what I really hate: Free 2 play but you may pay. That is: Buying shit in the store for real cash which not everyone can afford. Look at Battlefield bad company 2, you unlock stuff because you get points with that class= Skills Battlefield play4free= You buy shit with real money, otherwise you can use your hard earned cash to have that m16 for 1 day. Collective Foal Posted December 27, 2011 But the only things you have to get through purchase are purely cosmetic. Plus, there's a trading system for those who want the items but can't pay (Thats how I got my strange FJ from ABG and shotgun from some other person) Also, I think I know what you're trying to say, but it's still wrong. If a certain loadout works for you, whether or not it's considered nooby by the community, you're still doing well with it. Nobody says you HAVE to use stock weapons to be good. I prefer to go combat engie when I play, so I don't use that class unless it's KotH or there is a big sentry engie on the team. That doesn't mean I'm a noob and terrible player. It means the loadout suits my playing style of coming at the enemy with as much firepower and as many angles as possible, and being able to quickly restore what is lost. And while I'm pretty bad at stock engie, combat engie still works for me, and I'm good with that class. But I feel like valve has brought some OP stuff into the game, it was fine the way it was. Maybe what I should've said from the beginning was: "No need to fix what aint broken". Collective Foal Posted December 27, 2011 Yes, come to think of it, I don't like the Sniper Polycount Pack at all. Basically, I dont like anything that discourages teamwork (Spycicle/Big Earner/ Dead Ringer), especially considering the name of the game. Even when I'm single-handedly defending A on Gravel Pit as a Scout, I'm contributing to the team by buying us time to defend elsewhere, because eventually, people start noticing that lone Scout and eventually their whole team is chasing me around and they forget te objective for a good 30 seconds. But playing a headshotless sniper on something like PLR contributes only kills to the team, which doesn't always mean much. Couldnt had said it better myself, if it doesnt help the team, dont include it in the game. Only include "important" and helpful stuff. "Life sucks sober!" Share this post Link to post
Blightmare Posted December 28, 2011 I just got the achieve for getting 2 kills while sticky jumping, and I did it by TOTAL accident. I was playing demopan(meaning I didn't HAVE a sticky jumper) when I rounded a corner and stepped on a single enemy sticky. well, the explosion didn't kill me, it sent hurling towards him really fast. All I ould do was shoot a grenade and hope to get lucky. Well, the grenade was a crit, and not only did it kill him, it killed his camper friend engineer, all his buildings, and me. And of course, no replay. Stupid ProTF2 servers. <_ Retired Forum Moderator Share this post Link to post

Jek Jek Roo Posted January 1, 2012 Playing with lot of people on servers is cool but I just can't stand a team with four or more spies/snipers and without medic. C'mon, I like to play as that german jerk but not for all time and being only one in the team. He is the most important teammate there. His job is to keep others alive but he need to be protected by someone bigger (heavy, solly, demo) and by other medics. Having someone ubered who start to run away is just not good. Medic need a heal too, esspecially a battle medic. I'm mad at all those n00b medics who can't understand to heal EVERYONE, not only crawling behind heavy for all time. And the worst thing is when I play as medic and I am on fire and suddenly a wounded pyro shows up yelling for a help. He can see I am on fire but doesn't do a bloody thing, only wants to be healed by me. > But I do appreciate all heavies willing to share sandvich with me. "Even if something sounds logical, it doesn't mean it have to be true" Share this post Link to post
Kirkreng Posted January 1, 2012 I don't bother going heavy is when I'm soloing pubs anymore. People just don't know how to treat a Medic, so why should I bother? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Share this post Link to post
Collective Foal Posted January 2, 2012 I am honestly the most generous player in-game. I know that its not good for the team to have me dead, but I get myself killed all the time trying to heal people who overextend, just because I want to heal EVERYONE. As Scout, if I've got really low health, as a last resort, I'll suicide into a large group of enemies and hurl milk at them, just so somebody else can get some heals in my absence. As Heavy, I rarely use my Sandvich. 9/10 times, it goes to somebody else who's hurt. alphabetagamma Posted January 2, 2012 I can understand why it feels annoying when you see a medic pocketing someone and they mostly ignore you. But try to understand from the pocket's perspective. The medic has to prioritize the health of his pocket, which is supposed to be one of the better players on the server. Unless the pocket is completely overhealed is and/or in safe territory is taking their medigun off their target not a potential risk. Other times, I'm assuming most times, when you're on fire with very little health left or when a medic just flat out does nothing after you've called medic 10 times when he's not pocketing anyone or is just continuing to heal and already overhealed target, your points are valid. Just because a medics priorities don't benefit you doesn't mean they're bad. Share this post Link to post
Kirkreng Posted January 2, 2012 Well, being a medic is all about prioritizing, that is what makes a good or bad medic. I just hate it when a medic just walks by a hurt sniper/scout/engie/other medic thinking they don't need to heal them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Share this post Link to post
