alphabetagamma Posted December 15, 2011 Sweet zombie Jesus the new Australian Christmas weapons look OP as hell. http://www.teamfortress.com/australianchristmas2011/ That Flamethrower is even more a W+M1 disaster than the backburner. The pyro axe has no downsides to the regular axe but it's not like anyone uses that anyway. And finally that secondary weapon is crap too. Even though you can't use both the Manmelter and Phlogistinator together as you wouldn't be able to put anyone out it looks sickeningly powerful, other classes have to destroy building or kill enemies with a sentry or actually hit an enemy in the head in order to get guaranteed crits, not always easy. But this makes it pathetically easy. Just put an ally out, groups of 2-4 people get hit by an enemy W+M1 all the time that's 4 crits stored for an enemy penetrating, non-deflectable medium range pyro weapon. The Engy shotgun is disgusting too. What if a medic has 100% uber and charges a sentry, but gets hit right before he deploys? Better encourage less people to play Medic! Good job Valve! The wrench is almost as bad. Want to never die engy? We got the answer right here! I'm sure I'm being overly pessimistic about these weapons, but I think I'm rather justified. I mean LOOK at them. Eedo Baba Posted December 15, 2011 WOW, you're completely right. With that wrench, the only kills Engi would be susceptible to would be 1 hit surprises like headshots and backstabs. And that flamethrower, it's like they think the Pyros have it too hard with the backburner... I still have no idea if they're going to be using any of my user-submitted weapons this week, but if they do, I can only hope that they aren't so offensively OP. Share this post Link to post
Blightmare Posted December 15, 2011 I don't really like what I'm seeing. Last thing we need are less medics and less skilled pyro's. Retired Forum Moderator Share this post Link to post
Kirkreng Posted December 15, 2011 Not to excited about these packs either. However I have learned to not jump the gun to quickly when it comes to complaining about updates, so I'll just wait and see. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Share this post Link to post
alphabetagamma Posted December 15, 2011 I may be in error saying that the new weapons are OP, they'll likely turn out as more annoying. But I really don't like how much stress medics (among the other classes) have to deal with now. When TF2 was originally released all medics had to deal with were decent spies, snipers and other standard threats. Now they have to deal with Dead ringer spies everywhere, random engineer projectiles making their uber inoperable and that's on top of everything they had before plus being the top target for all enemies. In the short time the item servers were down a few weeks ago I felt a more balanced, relaxed and in some ways fun game. Gameplay now seems like a lot more to handle at once. Every spy could be a dead-ringer, every pyro could be a backburner, every corner could have a tomislav heavy waiting for you. But that's just me, your average TF2 playing OP whining community member. WHY, VALVE, JUST... WHY? I expected some weapons to finally make the Engineer... well, he just needed a few more things in his inventory. As for the Pyro? No one likes to play him/her/it since he/she/it is supposedly underpowered to oblivion. Well, Valve definitely succeeded in making the Pyro (excessively) less underpowered (if he/she/it ever was whatsoever), and the Engineer is now a spawn-teleporting Medic and Spy killer/uber stopper. ERGO: the Engineer now has no weaknesses. The Pyro probably doesn't, either. I adamantly anticipate Valve to fire the nerf cannons. Do you feel blame? Are you mad? 101Phase Posted December 15, 2011 Hmm, I'm not sure what Valve is trying to accomplish with some of these weapons. And to think they have a public beta now as well. The Scoutman Posted December 15, 2011 Those weapons kinda could work, but they need certain limitations: 1. The new Engineer shotgun cant take medigun charge from a fully charged doctor. 2. The new wrench needs a reload time ( a really long one). 3. The new axe needs a downside since the ability to inflict melee damage in 2 targets at once, one being healed constantly, can be really useful sometimes if you can play pyro. This are some patches that could be implemented, the ManMelter removes any kind of long range attack (where the crits would be more useful for the pyro), and this can teach most pyros they can actually help their teammates when they are on fire. Until i see some real gameplay footage im not sure if the manmelter will be THAT OP. Same goes for the new flamethrower (of course the pubs that support 16 vs 16 matches in small close quarters maps will be filled with more M1, but unless those pyros learn to not mindless charge at the the enemy base they will most likely die after a short, but annoying, charge. Without having the chance to load their "Mmmph"). The future of gaming lies in realistic simulations of extraordinary realities "I am drunk, you dont have an excuse" Share this post Link to post
Eedo Baba Posted December 15, 2011 Ah, I think I get what they're doing. They release new items and they're intentionally veeeery OP. This makes more people want to get them, which increases the store sales. When the dust settles, they nerf the weapons. Share this post Link to post

I do hope they nerf them ASAP, though. Do you feel blame? Are you mad? Uh, do you feel like wolf kabob Roth vantage? Gefrannis booj pooch boo jujube; bear-ramage. Jigiji geeji geeja geeble Google. Blightmare Posted December 16, 2011 new weapons out, I'm kinda glad they can't airblast my rockets but my joy turns sour when he's 10 hp from death, and suddenly after a taunt he's full hp before my rocket hits and I'm dead due to crit fire. <_< And ABG's prediction about the engie and medic was very accurate from what I was seeing. Kirkreng Posted December 16, 2011 I think something like shorter range for the new flamethrower should be added because it really doesn't have any drawbacks if your W+M1ing. What I am most concerned about is the engie shotgun, like medics don't have enough to worry about. But I am not drawing conclusions until the weapons have been out for a while. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Share this post Link to post
The Scoutman Posted December 16, 2011 The new engineer set needs to be nerfed ASAP. step 1: Build all your stuff in a sentry nest (so the other engineers protect your stuff from spies) step 2: Find a good spot to see incoming fully charged doctors. step 3: Spam your new fancy shotgun all over the medics when they are about to release their ubers. step 4: teleport back to spawn step 5: repeat step 6:??? step 7: profit The future of gaming lies in realistic simulations of extraordinary realities "I am drunk, you dont have an excuse" Share this post Link to post

Karl Posted December 17, 2011 Yeah don't worry, the new items, after the craze to get them via the store slows down, will be probably nerfed tremendously. After that it'll be like many a new item before it, never being used by anyone that isn't either completely new to the game or isn't just screwing around. Much like the Cow Mangler. Before that thing got patched, it was a MONSTER. But bam, nerfed to oblivion with a reload time that makes me impatient and a damage downside that doesn't make it useful except for extremely situational spots of engy nests. Jek Jek Roo Posted December 18, 2011 Everything is just not fair... Yesterday I got a powercut. I was playing TF2 and then everything got shut down. Next day I couldn't run steam. I can't remember what was wrong, but I found out I must reinstal steam because some external files were crashed. > "Even if something sounds logical, it doesn't mean it have to be true" Share this post Link to post
