Team Fortress 2

Recommended Posts

So on another forum I am trying to write a guide for TF2 for the basics(not the basic basics that you learn in the tutorial, but still basic). This is just the pyro part.

Pyro:

Many people will say this is an overpowered or easy to use class(W+M1)....so more reason for you to use it. And it is pretty true, the Pyro is easy to use but hard to master. So here are some tips:

Spy check. Spy checking is vital to the teams success(don't believe me? Ask Dr Julius No, he knows.). Spy Checking, as the name implies, means to check for disguised or cloaked spies. The fun part is: you get to set your team on fire....well not really. All you have to do is throw a few flames towards your teammates and if they actually light on fire you have found a spy. After which you can proceed to:

1. Cook him some more and hope he doesn't burn(To be save just throw him in the microwave).

2. Watch him panic and try to run away from the afterburn.

3. Sit back, relax and watch as your team slaughters the spy.

4. Smack him in the face with a mailbox(Postal Pummeler required).

Open up Mr mailbox, its time for your...

breakfast

YEEEEAAAAHHH

(Bronism required to get the joke)

But wait, there is more. Every flamethrower comes with a handy function many people seem to forget they have: the compression blast. Yes, your flamethrower can fart. It can be used to push enemies away(do it near a cliff and see what happens), which can be useful to separate the strong bond between a Uber-Heavy-Medic, just push the medic out of reach and finish him off. This blast can also be used to push away enemy projectiles(for example rockets and sticky bombs). BUT there is even more, you can also use this function to put out burning teammates(because blowing gas on burning people puts them out. Works in real life too, try it out).

You also seem to have a fetish for Latex and that suit you are wearing protects you from afterburn(only afterburn, direct flames can still kill you).

But to all of this there is also a disadvantage: You have a really short range, your flames don't go that far. So if you encounter weak enemy classes(spy, scout, sniper) that are just out of the reach of your flamethrower, switch to your shotgun/flare gun. If you happen to meet some medium/heavy classes that are out of your reach it is best to just run away and try a different approach.

Awesome, did a couple of corrections where I thought were necessary.

I'd also mention being able to use the air-blast to reflect rockets so you can get close range to soldiers.

Alright, thanks mate. I didn't even know you can reflect arrow, I am even learning something myself from this.

Edit:

Here is my part on the scout:

Scout:

A very important thing to remember when playing the Scout is that you are a skinny white kid with a baseball cap....you're weak. With only 125 health you are, along with the sniper and the spy, one of the weakest classes. However you have the force agility on your side. When you come into a fight that you cannot win, flee. Don't be scared to run away. Do damage and get the hell out of there. It is the smart thing to do and it will guarantee you will do more damage to the enemy. In fact, running away from a fight can be used as a great strategy:

1: Run in, take you enemy by surprise and get 1 or 2 hits on him

2: Before the enemy has time to realize what is going on get out of there

3: Repeat until enemy is defeated

4: ?? ??

5: Profit

Your speed and agility are you biggest advantages. You are perfect for stealing intel, getting to and capturing control points as well as just distracting the enemy(Try and stand on a Heavy's head, total mindfuck).

Most of the time you want to stick to open area's where you can jump around and avoid enemy fire. However some classes are a little awkward close range(for example the Demoman or the Sniper). So just go ahead and make the first move, show them what your bat looks like up close. But don't just stand there like you were caught with your pants down, move around. Don't allow them to get a direct hit on you.

And this is kind of the intro:

Team Fortress, as the name implies, is a game focused on teamwork. So if you come out of the CoD vain of FPS's, you will need to change the way you play. Because in TF2 you will not be able to carry your team to victory. You main objective is not to maintain a high KDr or place top of the leaderboard. You want that satisfaction of stomping the enemy into the ground, the joy of hearing the announcer say VICTORY, the smug smile on your face when those glorious crit-sparks dance around your RED/BLU colored arms while the enemies run in fear, fleeing from you trying to bash their faces in with a shov...alright, I think you get the point.

Any improvements, criticism? Hit me with it.

His cheekbones aren't defined like the in-game sniper.

Oh, and guys, I had an awesome time last night and today. Axel and ABG get good sumeritan rep points for making me feel happy.

Top ranked as every class BUT heavy (I never play it, U MAD ABG? and after you left, I did end up top-ranking)
If you think you're better 'n me you got another thing comin'. I also see a lack of pics, and context...

I never took pics before this morning at 5:00. I just installed one of my old RAM chips from my dead laptop to my sister's laptop, giving her a GB of RAM and making the game run smooth as anything on recommended settings. I will start taking screenshots and replays now. And, in context, I was on a full nightteam server. What made me do so well was the Monster I had right before I played :mrgreen::mrgreen:

in TF2 you will not be able to carry your team to victory

Achievement "Triple Steal":

Capture the enemy intelligence 3 times in a single CTF round.

Scout disagrees...

The future of gaming lies in realistic simulations of extraordinary realities

Last year it was a week, possibly two.

Feel free to PM me about almost anything and I'll do my best to answer. :)

I got ONE spy mask and that was it. I got lucky because I was spy-checking in the mansion and it popped up on the bed thingy.

I don't have any mask yet :C

Find a server running 24/7 manor with 8 or more players that are not bots and play for a long long time...

Or farm them with some other people on a server. :P
