Hahaha... I meant airshotting the enemy.

I don't know if it's possible to scope in while airborne; it'd make for some wootastic headshots if so.

I've tried it before (lol) and no it's not possible. But imagine trying to stabilize a scope shot while plummeting to earth at terminal velocity.

True, but TF2 is anything but realistic. :P

I always laugh when people say Sniper is a useless class. It's only useless when the one playing it sucks. But a good sniper can really change the outcome of a battle. Too bad ignorance knows no bounds.

But if you are playing with a team that is just plain BAD, you'll loose anyway.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU

Some Pyro kept ranting about how useless the Sniper was.

I proceeded to save a few teammates/protect objectives from him via blasting his face in.

However, if you're rusty, Sniper is NOT the class to play.

...More OP? Since when was the Sniper OP?

Headshot > Rocket

Sir, i do believe i have made my point.

In the tf2 world snipers are way more powerful than they would be in any other game.

Scout: Underpowered

Fix: Add 20 to 30 points to health count.

Soldier: Balanced

Nitpicks: Make a rocket launcher with a faster reload, whatever the cost.

Pyro: Overpowered

Fix: Nerf the burn time of ignited enemies by half. Cut the direct fire damage by 25%.

Demoman: Balanced

Nitpicks: Make some more launcher unlocks for chrissakes, enough with demoknightery.

Heavy: Overpowered

Fix: Limit overhealing from medics to 50% less than other classes. Use up uber from medics at 150% speed. Random critical hits should be based on per bullet probability, not a two second cycle.

Engineer: Balanced

Nitpicks: Give him a dedicated hotkey to switch to a defensive weapon, and a dedicated hotkey to switch to a wrench.

Medic: Balanced

Nitpicks: Give the quickfix some overhealing for chissakes.

Sniper: Balanced

Nitpicks: Combine the Danger Shield and the Razorback into one decent secondary.

Spy: Balanced

Nitpicks: Bring down the speed of the sapper a bit. At this point, saving two or three buildings being sapped at once is relatively impossible alone.

And which do you think takes more skill? Headshot or rocket?

Snipers being more powerful in any other game is because other games try too hard to be realistic (*cough, cough* CoD) and end up gimping the sniper. What do you think is wrong with him? That a skilled Sniper can defend himself at close range? If he's godlike enough to be able to annihilate Scouts constantly, he deserves to do so. It's like calling the Pyro OP when he airblasts any and all projectiles.

Pyro: Overpowered

Scout is not underpowered. I play a sandman scattergun scout with either mad milk or crit cola(depends on situation) and I can take out heavy medic combo's if I can position them right. The LAST thing you ever want to do as scout is charge in the front. look for side paths, flank, run in fast, pump full of lead, and get out before they can react. Rinse, repeat. always taking a different path, jumping like a monkey while doing all this. You don't need to stick around till they're dead, you can make multiple passes if your team isn't there to finish him.

if the map has a lot of pyro's, go mad milk. If you find yourself often able to sneak up on enemies, go crit cola. you can take out a heavy in 3 shots assuming you don't miss or he doesn't get a shot in on you.

I didn't farm a scattergun to server-clearing to not know what to do as scout. :P

I'd say the biggest danger aside from running into a spun up heavy, would be a good soldier, and a pyro. pyro's fire tears apart any scout(which is why mad milk becomes so valuable) and a soldiers splash damage makes your jumps less effective if he aims properly.

And remember, sandman's ball is there to be used. And the farther from the target, the longer the stun. Use it to get in close then circle strafe em while burning em down.

Hell, if you're creative enough, go Bonk! and kill an engi by positioning him between you and his sentry. So fun to do that.

I'm not saying there aren't working Scout strategies. I'm saying that as a class he's more balanced with other offensive classes if he has similar HP.

Yesterday I traded for strane Razorback. I was interested how does it work so I got it, but I didn't tested it yet. It's pretty funny, as strange weapon lol

So he gets double speed, double jump, a powerful close range weapon AND higher HP?

What I also don't understand is that Eedo Baba labeled the Pyro as OP... as a Sniper (a class which he said is balanced), I usually rip Pyros to shreds at any range. Headshotting while on fire is difficult, but I, along with many other Snipers, have done it. Heck, I've even soloed a Pyro Medic combo as a Sniper at close range.

Does it record how many times you get stabbed? If so, I'd make it to Hale's Own in one day. ;)

Dont you love those f2p spies? :D

Once there was a spy who didnt backstab me the whole round because he believed the danger shield worked just like the razorback :P .

Anyway, about the sniper-rocket stuff, what i meant to say is that in more realistic games they avoid using a rocket launcher in multiplayer because they are afraid that would be OP, that makes the sniper the only class who can 1 hit kill at long range making those snipers OP in theirs game. But in a world where people can survive rocket explosions, a sniper who can kill super mercenaries with only 1 bullet is quite OP if compared to the snipers in other games who can only 1 hit kill wimpy regular soldiers from our reality filled with MAGGOTS.

Doest that even make any sense?

No, he get's similar HP. Currently, he's one of the weakest health classes, which makes no sense to me. His entire shtick is moving quick and avoiding fire while also using his weapons and his double jump. Every class has a weakness, and I'd say Scout's weakness without HP is the extreme necessity of multitasking. Take a quick look at how well a scout does on a TF2 server in combat. Taking down one or two enemies is a major accomplishment because you have to be very careful avoiding heavy combat, because one stray hit will take down a scout.

I hope I'm not derailing the thread by continuing this (even if it's TF2 related), but...

I know... the Sniper is definitely OP compared to snipers in other games, but it's not like they have to fight each other.

I have no real logic to use against this, but some of my best kill streaks have been as a Scout.

Scouts are also nightmarish in competitive; watch the Meatshot series.
