The Dark Eye (1995)

First person point and click exploring several Edgar Allen Poe stories from different view points.  Not a particularly difficult game, but it has a pretty unique art style and some fairly disturbing visuals, at least for the time.

I only made a post for this right now because, well, my brain just thought of 2Dark by Gloomywood Studio. They just kinda dropped the game that is «balls to the wall» on the heavy/horror topics mixed with stealth and dark humor back in 2017 by Fréderick Raynal. They also made an editor I still got from the Beta Days, but the weirdest thing is that, despite my best researches, the studio is either rebranded to Ludoid (or merged with it) or just vanished off the face of the Earth.

It could truly do for an either Extra vid somewhere (given the sometime graphic content of that voxel game) or just a topic to dig out. I tried to do my part by saving the Editor from oblivion by putting it on the Internet Archives because I just enjoyed how it rendered stuff, really.

Happy Halloween, for I might just disappear after this post, never been big on forums nowadays.

I've recently learned that there has been a spiritual successor (Which pays direct homage) to Legend of Kyrandia, called the Legend of Skye, released recently to steam as of April 2nd. I've only started playing it, and it's doing a good job emulating that old 90's adventure game style, and while I think it looks a little more simplistic then Kyrandia, it's still very good. There's alot to like about this game, but I one special note I want to make is for the main protagonist- Skye is a Druid, and she seems like a cross of the best aspects of both Brandon and Zanthia- She's kind of a Ditz who talks like a Valley girl and is overly naive of the world at large, having lived in the forest all her life and only interacting with a nearby small village, but also being very physically competent and kicking ass with magic.

I think Ross would like it if he likes Kyrandia, cause I mean- this game is essentially trying to be more Kyrandia. Maybe that feels a little cheap, though I do like artists trying to give old genres and styles of games with some more modern and well learned design practices. Kind of like Arzette paying tribute to Legend of Zelda Faces of Evil.ss_81cd36c2d7f9242503a17cbe166fb0a469560

Now I know with the stop killing games thing you probably won't have time or energy to do a Christmas episode. But I have a Christmas game for you (from a certain point of view)

Siege of Avalon. Now it has nothing to do with Christmas, but much like captain zap, I GOT IT FOR CHRISTMAS. Yeah that's a stretch but when it comes to finding Christmas or snow games. You gotta take what u can get
