How very Eastern European.

Nah I feel like that would be the whole thing, not just the start. Entire story stylized like the "Worker and Parasite" bit from the Simpsons

I'd love to see Overlord and maybe Overlord 2 on the show, they seem like they'd fit in with a lot of previous entries like Dungeon Siege and Hinterland, although they might not meet the criteria if there are rules for what can be in an episode relating to age or something like that; they're only...Jesus Christ 15 years old!?

Overlord is too solid and too popular to be on Game Dungeon

Suggestion: "Ripper" 1996, Take-Two Interactive.

This is a point-and-click adventure with "interactive movie" elements, set in the future.

OK, basic research revealed that LGR did a 10min review of it.

Still, I think a GD would be great.
I haven't played it and have no idea if it's great or terrible or somewhere in the boring middle....

...but I like the idea of going on the journey with Ross, with no prior knowledge...to see what horrifying truths lie hidden in this work of a bygone era of PC gaming.

PS: It's that one with Christopher Walken and Gimli and Paul Giamatti. Not many games have Paul Giamatti!!!

I never realized there was a games suggestion thread, let me throw a couple into the void.

UIltima IX

I played this game as a kid, apparently people didn't like it due to plot inconsistencies or something. I don't really care about that, I liked the game for the most part. Kinda has Elder Scrolls like gameplay, with different tiers of weapons, armor, and spells. Came out 2 years before Morrowind too. There's just a lot of things to do and see in the game, and a lot to discover outside the main story. I enjoyed exploring Britannia.

Spoiler

The only part I really really hated was Covetous. That might be the worst dungeon of all dungeons in videogames. Spells and potions don't work, it's long as shit, and the skeletons come back to life if you don't pick up their torsos.

The Moment of Silence

I got this game as a teenager on CD for my birthday, but I wasn't able to install it because it said it was only compatible with Windows XP for some reason and I had Windows Vista. But I came back years later to play it (I haven't had time to sit down and beat it yet) and I like that one of the first things you have to do in the game is harass a family that just had their door blown in and had their father abducted by a SWAT team.

There is abandonware game from 1999 where you play as a cool dark monster killer who doesn't "like" anyone and Hates, monsters. Game is Nocturne. It really nails the atmosphere and characters. Dark forests with traps, monsters lurking in the corners, castless, villages. It's set in 1920s so there is no tehnology, just you and the guns. It has fixed camera so graphics look decent.

Have anyone asked for Lamplight City? I tried to search for it but didn't find anything. Is a stempunk detective game very well made with a lot of branching paths and a good plot and characters and has clear influences from classical adventure games like Gabriel Knight.

Aint sure if Ross will see this but there are 3 games I realy would love to see him do a Game Dungeon on, well kinda 4, but last one being eh, I guess.

will try little to no spoilers on games, cause spoilers are stupid, like those movies where they put the ENTIRE plot in the trailer.

1: Normality (1996)

By Gremlin Interactive

This is a 3D First Person WASD point and click game.

wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normality_(video_game)

its even on steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/400370/Normality/

I think this would be a perfect game for him to do a game on.

Kent Knutson, a rebellious teenager in the city of Neutropolis, trying to avoid  the Norm Police.

cause, if your not "Normal" you will get sendt to jail.

Cause I feel this is going to happen sooner rather than later.

you move with WASD in First person, looking all around you with your mouse, you have that Duke Nukem 3D feel to it, but for a point and click game.

Allso your interaction menu is a voodoo doll of yourself.

The person your playing in Normality looks alot like the person in "Ross's Game Dungeon: Fahrenheit" at 19:45.

normality-pc-007.png

So maby Farenheit was set before Normality, it coulld happen.

yeha, this might be abit to far, but it could happen

2: Kingdom O' Magic (1996)

By: SCI (Sales Curve Interactive)

Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_O'_Magic

this is a pure point and click adventure game.

Thgere are 2 characters to play with:

1: Thidney the Lizard Bloke (voiced by John Sessions)

2: Shah-Ron the Girlie (voiced by Lani Minella) from planet Comely.

And there are 3 modes to play this game, cause why not

1: The Good, Old Fashioned, Traditional Quest: The player wanders around the Kingdom fighting and completing various side-quests, until finally "rescue the dragon, steal the princess and kill the treasure".

2: The Magnificent 7-11 Quest: The player has to find and recruit 7 to 11 characters from the Kingdom in order to protect Flake town from an upcoming invasion.

3: The Bizarre & Slightly Twisted Quest: The player must find the Lost Lava Lamp Of The Ancient and defeat the Dark Lord, in order to save civilization.

Depending on what character you choose AND gamemode, you can play this game a total 6 times to have 6 difrent playthroughs.

selecting Thidney and play quest 1, then play as Shah-Ron and quest 1, those are completly difrent ways to complete that quest.

if playing this game, you are most likely need to run emulator that mimics a older PC, due to CPU speeds up the game, so some CPU turbo program or something to slow down the game is highly recommended, cause some minigames go way to fast

3: Toonstruck (1996)

By: Virgin Interactive Entertainment

Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toonstruck

Steam:   https://store.steampowered.com/app/369830/Toonstruck/

another pure point and click game

here you play as Drew Blanc (Christopher Lloyd) a animator of The Fluffy Fluffy Bun Bun Show, transported into a cartoon world that has been taken over by Count Nefarious.

This game I had also needed to use some CPU manipulation, cause one minigame you HAVE to win, just goes way to fast

last game is

Chewy ESC From F5 (1995)

Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chewy:_Esc_from_F5

Another point and click... sorry, I cant remember much of it, must been some of the older games that didn't have much things to remember about, I don't remember where my CD is, so cant play through and see if its even worth the time.

but I believe atleast Normality is a games Ross might enjoy doing a video on, and maby Kingdom O' Magic.

I wouldn't say so, considering he had The Crew. Overlord 1 especially is exactly the sort of game Ross would enjoy and a lot like the regular content on GD. If low popularity is a requirement then I think it's obscure enough, the only possible issue is that it may not be janky enough but who knows.

I remember watching Vinesauce play through some of this; you don't see many parody games out there, and I don't recall Ross covering any yet, so this could be an interesting venture into uncharted territory. I'm a bit concerned about the "6 playthroughs" thing; if the game isn't to his taste, even completing one of the quests might be a drag by the end, but it sounds like you're not properly covering the game unless you do at least one run through each quest.

That game is moon logic en masse (it got released on the collection chambers several months ago) , it dependes on how much patience ross has left for that kind of game logic

I just stumbled onto one particular game from my teenage years, Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller. I thought it was bad because I was too young to understand any English, I was never good with adventure games so I never got anywhere, plus my underpowered 386 really struggled with the cutscenes. So the terrible problems of the video below are faithful to my own experiences

I think that's why I disliked the Martian Gothic episode, even if the games are very different, the surface similarities still hit too close to home for me. But it might still be good Game Dungeon material. Perhaps. Or perhaps this glitchy mess is what will finally make convince Ross that he is crazy after all.

I honestly think Project Gotham Racing, the original Xbox launch title, would make for a good Game Dungeon episode. It's not as widely known as its sequel, the series it's in isn't as widely known since there hasn't been a new entry in a decade, and not only is it an eclectic racing game, it has an eclectic soundtrack with a lot of really obscure stuff, like this:

The only potential hurdle is that it's only on the original Xbox, but that's nothing some good capture equipment can't deal with.

Fun fact: it was the second best selling Xbox title after the first Halo, and Halo was the game that MADE the Xbox. If Halo somehow didn't exist, PGR would have had to try and make up for it, and as good as the game is, it wasn't quite the force Halo was. Sometimes I like to think what the console scene would look like if that had been the case.

The spiritual predecessor of this game, Metropolis Street Racer, would probably make for a good Game Dungeon episode too. Maybe there's room for comparison between the two games, since PGR is essentially "MGR plus, for the Xbox".

Hey Ross, since you like somewhat dark stories, scenic vistas of mountains and forests, first person shooters with levels that loop in on themselves, and leaving behind a trail of NON RESPAWNING corpses as you strike against the forces of hell, I think you'd like to try Northern Journey.

Unless you have arachnophobia, then it's a horror game that kills you in real life.

It's dawning on me recently just how many Diablo-inspired games Ross has played on the channel, and that it's probably one of his favorite genres. I wonder if he's ever played Magicka. It's not nearly as fun in single player, and isn't really balanced for it either—not only do the enemies not get any less tough, you lose out on the infinite revives you can use on each other, instead only getting a Navi-inspired fairy who gives you one free revive per checkpoint—so he might want to drag a friend or two along.

The twist is that instead of having any RPG elements, an inventory, or even much loot beyond occasional replacements for your melee staff, you're a wizard with an arsenal of elemental spells that can be combined in fun ways and then cast either directionally, on yourself, or as an AOE. So for example, Arcane combined with any other offensive element usually creates a powerful beam of energy, but add Shield into the mix and now it drops tripmines. Your spells can even combine with those of your teammates to create more powerful attacks—or backfire hilariously, if you're not coordinating properly.

Oh yeah, and for some reason they decided to save on voice acting budget by having the language options only affect the captions, and so as not to favor any one localization, all the voice acting (which features fully unique clips for every single line of dialog) is in comical gibberish. And because the development team is based out of Sweden, that gibberish came out sounding like the Swedish Chef from the Muppets.
