The scramble option in TF2 is SO ANNOYING.

 

It's like whenever a team is decent, the other team doesn't feel like getting better and wants to have 8 Weighted Companion Snipers, 5 Demoknights, 3 Soldiers, and an Engie that builts teles that go further BEHIND the front lines and not FORWARD, so they rage-scramble so they can get the hard working players on their abysmal excuse of a team, and the uncoordinated whiners can be on a skilled team.

I hate people that can't stand a fair game, I guess they can't play unless the teams are stacked. Auto balance and team scrambles are GOOD things, they make the game more fun and fair. Otherwise you may get something like this, and believe me, that's no fun.

I didn't say auto balance was a bad thing, although it is incredibly rage inducing. Scramble is annoying because the teams are even, but people want on the winning team to compensate for their lack of skill and/or desire to play a class other than Sniper (the Weighted Companion camping kind), Spy (the kind that only goes after Weighted Companion Snipers), or Demoknight.

EVERY TIME I USE HAMMER EDITOR, 30 or so minutes in, it crashes for no fucking reason

and I lose all my work, so fucking annoying

It is better for the game for there to be an even distribution of crappy and decent players.

So if an entire team is good and wins several rounds consecutively, they should be punished for it by having some of the aforementioned players placed on the team that refuses to learn from their mistakes/can't learn from their mistakes?

It's the same as wealth condensation, I suppose it would be "skill condensation" but the principal is similar.

The way I see it, it's a method to make the game fun for everyone. most people who like a challenge in their games will actually go along with a vote scramble even if they're on the winning team because it's no fun to just sit there winning without trying, and I think we can all agree that the last thing people want to do when they play TF2 is to spend 30 min in their spawn because the other team isn't so much as letting them leave.

 

Auto balance mixes up the good and the bad so you have an even distribution, thus changing the results of the match and possibly making it more fun for everyone.

 

And you're also failing to take into account the people who are just starting the game. How can you expect a new player to learn if they can't even so much as fire 1 round before the entire opposing team is on top of them with everything they got?

About a team "winning without trying," there's the happenstance of a team barely winning several times in a row. There's also the option of just going to another server with a higher or lower skill ceiling if you're like me and don't enjoy being able to predict the outcome of a game before it starts due to several wins/losses in a row (I enjoy winning, just not if I'm winning due to unfair circumstances).

 

There are also many interpretations of "fun." In TF2 for me, fun is not taking the game too lightly, but not taking it too seriously, and being as coordinated and willing to become better as possible without being an elitist (*cough, cough* competitive).

 

There are ways to get better other than merely playing. I often watch "How to play" videos, utilize maps such as tr_walkway_rc2, tr_airshot, etc., and even play with bots. In my opinion, if the team is skilled enough to prevent someone from being able to fire one round before death, they deserve to be able to do so.

 

I noticed you use the word "balance," by the way. I don't like "rage scrambling," (scrambling when you're getting stomped on) but I agree that auto balance is necessary.

It occurred to me there totally is one situation where a scramble is blatantly unfair. During an Attack Defense game, or when one team is holding out one point on a CP map. Cause any engineers switched off of the defending team will lose ALL of their buildings, which obviously benefits the offensive team in the long run.
