Don't worry about coming off as condescending, i'll let you know if you do :P

I've always told myself that sometimes I need to set myself up for an appointment with a long wait time like at the DMV or plain/train ride just so I could have an excuse to sit down and do nothing but read. I've got a stack of books that I started in the last year, but haven't finished, and I'm the type that feels obligated to tie up loose ends for they will always be frayed in the back of my mind somewhere. I try to meet my need to read somewhere in the middle, and get through one chapter a night before I end up falling asleep. (not practical!).

I haven't played an actual video game for over a year now (I don't include browser games, or swf files of some rising developer i've been following) Most of the time if i'm in a mood for a certain game, I just put on a '

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c36OmC5UbME' on youtube, and let that play in the background while I take a nap, or do other work, like study for certifications, and other 'career' related motivations.

By the way, what Warhammer novel do you recommend? any non-fiction that catches your current (past?) fancy? I do admit that the history that I should be reading, is actually coming in the form of videos... i've spent so much time with watching videos and movies, just because it's so much easier for something to be playing on one screen while I do other stuff on the other screen. This multi-tasking spreads me out, and I think is the cause of my recent scattered demeanor and sense of inaccomplishment

Time seems like a luxury commodity these days, and I have days when my time-managing skills are just off, especially if it's been a hideous week at work. You want to do something productive and meaningful with your days off, but the urge to melt into a puddle of ex-human slurry is often too overriding. I get into the habit of specific points in the day when I'm not doing anything else. If I'm slowly making my way through a certain book in sporadic five to twenty minute intervals throughout the day then my more deliberate reading sessions in my free time feel like a treat.

As for Warhammer novels, do you prefer the traditional fantasy style of the Warhammer setting or the grim sci-fi of Warhammer 40,000? If it's former then I'm much more familiar with the previous edition before all this world-ending Age of Sigmar stuff happened. I really enjoyed The Rise of Nagash trilogy by Mike Lee, chronicling the life (and undeath) of the much reviled Khemri necromancer. I'm extremely biased towards anything Skaven related (Warhammer's ubiquitous race of Ratmen) and in particular one of their champions Queek Headtaker - an utterly insane and uncharacteristically fearless member of Clan Mors. I'd suggest Guy Haley's The Rise of the Horned Rat, David Guymer's Headtaker and all of C.L. Werner's books about Grey Seer Thanquol. Let me know which races you're into to I'll pick my brains for good stuff relating to them.

In regards to the latter setting some of my undisputed favourites are the Sandy Mitchell novels about the Imperial Guard Commissar Ciaphas Cain, a hero of the Imperium whose outward bravery and valiance hides his gallows humour and self-serving cynicism. He's a badass who ironically wants nothing more than to sidestep his duties rather than face the innumerable horrors of the 41st millenium. Start with The Greater Good or The Last Ditch and if you enjoy either or both of those, look up some the other stories featuring him. Again, let me know which races and armies you're interested in.

If you would rather dip your toes in both camps, then I'd recommend reading the The Best of Hammer and Bolter volumes culled from their digital magazine of the same name. The stories are by numerous authors and thus are naturally a bit hit n' miss but there's plenty of decent fare for anybody wanting to sink their teeth into the different races and cultures of the respective settings.

Urgh......

I can't seem to talk with anyone here these days.Either they're busy or don't want to talk.

Also,my brother can be a real pain in the ass when I'm around him. Especially if he's having a bad day. I'm feeling preeeety tempted to kick his self-loathing ass.

Try suplexing him off your roof.

Disclaimer: Please don't actually hurt your brother because I told you to. I don't want to be an anecdote in the Strange Deaths segment of the next Fortean Times.

they pass their abuse from ear to ear

in dying whispers -

even now, when prayers are no longer prayed.

@Woah_G! yes I suppose selective optimism and focusing on smaller things would be reasonable. However people who're overly optimistic about things far beyond their scope will inevitably be disappointed because they can't fix what the set out to fix.

Everyday it seems like more and more people are willing to risk their lives by running across the road to get to the other side, instead of safely using the crosswalk. Teens do it, kids do it, hell even adults do it! What the hell?! Last night I had to honk at two kids who were about to run across, and I was feet away from them!

Vent two: Comforters take a long time to dryclean. Two weeks. Not Two days. Most customers understand this. Most customers are fine with this. At the end of the transaction, any transaction, I say "It'll be ready in X days/weeks". It's similar to when the waiter/waitress is like "Your food will be ready in X minutes" at the end of the transaction, or whatever. It makes more sense to say it at the end, rather at the start. I've worked here a little over a year, only one person complained about that.

Wow. So I wasn't the only one who noticed? I was going home from work one day, and I saw a random guy deciding that walking right across the road instead of using a crosswalk is a WAY better alternative. Thankfully there were few, if any, cars, but still

Is this becoming a global thing?

And then here in Australia it's completely normal to cross the road without a cross-walk. Just gotta look both ways lol.

Yeah, seems pretty normal to me as well.

Well, I dunno about the part "it's normal", because I've never been in Australia or wherever Heliocentrical lives, but I live in Russia, and considering the amount of traffic we sometimes have, AND counting in some particular drivers: very dangerous thing to do no matter the situation. And I really doubt the "look both ways" will pass here

I live in a particularly empty part of the US. There's practically no traffic because no one lives here so to me it doesn't seem that much of a risk. I suppose if I lived in a densely populated city I might consider otherwise. I presume where Jeb lives doesn't have that much traffic either.

I live on an island. A really small island. There is not much traffic here, and even on the mainland, you really don't need to use any sort of walkway to get across roads - just need to look both ways. Even in the city, usually traffic is so slow you can just walk between cars. I dunno. It's just normal here.

Living in LA, crossing the road without a crosswalk is about as dumb as dumb gets when it comes to safety on the road. In a lot of places there's absolutely no way to cross the street without getting hit or having a close call forcing traffic to stop if you aren't using the crosswalk. And the idiots who do that are always super pissed at getting honked at. Like who the fuck do these people think they are? No sympathy for them when they get hurt doing that.

Isn't there a particular right of way law in California in regards to pedestrians? I might be mistaken but I distinctly remember something to that affect. Might have something to do with that.

Well the past several days have been interesting to say the least. So I have these two acquaintances who are together, let's call them Jason and Miranda.

Now I knew Jason first and have known him for quite a while. I first met Jason as a customer over at a computer repair shop I used to work for and would chat with him while I worked on his PC. We got along fairly well. He looked like your typical dudebro jock type. But once you got to know him though he's actually very philosophical in some areas and it was interesting to listen to his point of view. He was also as dumb as barstool in some areas which I'll get to in a minute.

So every now and then he would bring in his PC for some pretty general issues. but then there was a shift in the type issue he was having. Jason started collecting porn which was giving his PC viruses. Now since this was none of my business I said nothing about it and cleaned his PC for him. I told him which directory the viruses were coming from and to keep an eye out for them. But Jason never learned to put two and two together and the porn just moved to some other directory on his PC. Not to mention the porn was easy as hell to find. Like he wasn't stealthy about it at all. This went on for several months until he told me he wasn't going to be coming in anymore because he was moving in with his girlfriend at the time Miranda. Now up until this point Jason had a never mentioned having a GF and once I knew I could tell that something bad was going to happen. He told me everything about his life and was very talkative about everything. But not once did he mention a GF so this was very sudden of him. Since I had become such good friends with Jason at this point I bit back my tongue back and wished him luck. I even gave him my phone number and game ID so we could stay in touch. Boy what a mistake that turned out to be.

After Jason moved in with Miranda we gamed together on regular basis which also included Miranda so this is where I got to know her. She was a nice person, pretty quiet and resigned though. Jason sounded like he had found the girl of his dreams. But when Miranda talked about their relationship(which was unprovoked I might add) she was so excited but sounded like she had just met him just kinda went along with whatever he wanted. So yeah basically your typically enthusiastic couple that loved talking about how much in love they were with one another. Again I was pretty happy for Jason that he had found the girl of his dreams.

Now fast forward several months later and Jason tells me he plans to propose to Miranda. I told him "Go for it". A few days later I get this tearful call from Miranda. She just found out about the porn and that was a deal breaker for her(again these people are not very smart so it doesn't surprise me that she only just found out about it now whereas I've known about it since Jason was a customer over at my computer shop). So I give her my shoulder to cry on and now at this point I've been dragged into this as an involuntary couples consular. I tried to help mend a few fenced but for the most part Jason refused to talk to me as to him it seems like I've taken Miranda's side and Miranda wanted nothing more to do with him. So now their relationship is effectively dead.

Now I am mad about this since I got dragged into this. But I'm also kind of fascinated by this whole phenomenon. What's crazy is I predicted this almost two years in advance. Now at the time I didn't even know Jason was with someone but without even realizing that I was doing it I understood the mechanics of a possible scenario for his future. Due to this I feel sort of like a prophet of predictable outcomes. I made a prediction without even realizing it and then it turns out to be dead on, so weird.

Also is it just me or does it seem like sex and intimate relationships don't mix? It always seems like one person's libido always overextends far beyond established relationships or even marriages. Like one party wants a commitment and I don't even know what the other party's motive is. So what's even the point if one party's just going fuck up that commitment anyway? Like if you wanted to get as much sex as you physically can wouldn't you I don't know, stay single? Maybe I'm just getting overworked here because I got roped into this. But man all those circumstances that I just mentioned and it took forever to reach a conclusion I made two fucking years ago. How does this world work the way it does? Jason and Miranda's relationship was a flash in the pan and nothing more. All of this just baffles me.

I'm not saying I started the fire. But I most certain poured gasoline on it.

Well... if a "relationship" falls apart because of some porn - there wasn't much of a relationship there and there is nothing to mourn... Better end it quickly then let it linger, torturing everyone around...

This girl, though... It may of course be that she just used the porn as an excuse when he started pestering her with commitment as from what you decribe - she wasn't into it at all, from the very start...

But if she has indeed been so shocked from finding the pictures... well... It is the fault of those who brought her up, of course, but she is in for a tough time in life, because there is no healthy man in the world without a stash of porn somewhere. She better get over that really quick...

+1

Girls just gotta harden up and come to terms with the fact that almost every guy has porn/watched it/reads it. But most likely she was just using it as an excuse, hiding something else. Seems like they didn't even TRY to talk about it. Unfortunately I've done that sorta thing before... broke up with a guy for some small reason but truth was, there was a LOT of things I didn't like. Did it so he wouldn't get so upset over the fact that I didn't love him anymore, cause I feel like that's worse. And now I can just see it so easily when other girls do the same. But I dunno, I could be wrong. I'm no psychologist. XD

Nice prediction skills though Helio, lol.

I don't think people who watch porn are more likely to cheat. To me it's the same as doing illegal stuff in video games. I love GTA, but of course I wouldn't steal a car or kill someone in real life! It's just a way of venting out anger, and it's similar with porn: I don't want to sleep with every attractive person I meet.

Sort of at stop signs. Even then just jumping out in traffic is likely to end poorly. At streetlights however, whoever has the green has the right of way. So walking in front of a car on green will probably get you hurt.

To be fair, having porn and cheating are 2 entirely different things and I wouldn't end my relationship over it unless I found out my SO was rubbing one out to something highly illegal or morally questionable

Likewise, as the submissive and subservient person I am, I'd be shocked and just a little upset, to say the least, if I found out my SO was cheating.

But if he's as stupid as your story suggests though I wouldn't have even given the relationship a chance, and something about the whole situation tells me porn wasn't the reason why she left him.
