I wouldn't trust Microsoft as far as you can kick Balmer. Another concern that a few others have already expressed is the possibility of Xbox's servers going down due to a hack, much like Sony a few years back. In that case, you'd be fucked. Also, what'll happen if the next generation of Xbox comes out, again ignores backward compatibility (although at this point that'd be fucking ridiculous since consoles are basically PCs in terms of hardware), and decides to shut down the Xbox One servers? Again, your investment is boned.

 

What's sad still, is that many Xbox One units will be sold this year. Not because of informed individuals that know what they're buying, but because of those who aren't.

Hopefully now that we know the PS4 is $100 cheaper than the Xbone that the Xbone won't sell well this holiday season. Hell, I hope the WiiU sees a price reduction to help boost its sales over the Xbone now that some good games are headed its way.

That guy got to be a major dick at the end there. I can't help but feel that condescending attitude from where he grabs the mic as his general feelings toward the gamers and potential buyers who have the same thoughts and criticisms. Basically, he doesn't think we don't know what we're talking about and our opinions are invalid. If they didn't provide this infrastructure in the first place, we wouldn't be discussing the DRM issues at all, which Major Nelson is desperately trying to claim the other features of the console outweigh it. They do not. Granted they aren't as bad as Steam (no family-share ATM, I hope that changes), they're still worse than the WiiU and PS4.

i agree (like i said, im pure PC gamer, but it amuses me to watch chatter around consoles)- currently they are just like "oh, were gonna sell 1 billion copies. But you can watch TV! Oh, but we made camera that is always spying on you so we could sell footage to intelligence agencies or just internet weirdos. But you can watch TV! However, you cant use it in certain countries. But you can watch TV! You cant play games from previous xbox. *insert same punchline*! You must have internet connection once during every 24 hours (so if you lose connection for more than that, well.. /care). But did we mention already that you can watch TV thanks to xbox one? And naturally we can just turn it off whenever we feel like it. (there were more but i forgot about half text due to sleepiness

I'm super excited for the PS4 and the Xbox One, you guys! You wanna know why? It means I can get a cheap Xbox 360 soon! And a lot of PS3 games are already cheaper! As for getting a new console, I think I might just build an awesome gaming PC. Because PC gaming is so much better, but I've never had a particularly powerful computer, so I can't really play the newer games with double-digit frames per second.
