Anyone here play DOOM?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else here pick up the xbox ports like I did?

I recently finished the Doom 2 port for 360, man, I haven't beaten that game since 1998 and it's still as hard even though i'm 22. I think Doom 2's my favorite, I played Doom 3 when it came out on PC, but Half-Life 2 ended up over shadowing it when it came around, so I never did get around to finishing it. I played some ZDoom with friends back in the day too, which is always a blast. I got the Doom 3 collectors for 360 a while back so i could have doom 1/2 and 3 all on the same disk and xbox, but didn't play it too much. I found the expansion to be cooler personally (no more holding the flashlight!)

Did you guys read the Doom comic at all?

How far did you get before stopping, what area? You have to finish the game... Makes the story way cooler.

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.

The Doom comic, from cover to cover, is pure awesomeness.

YOU ARE HUGE

THAT MEANS YOU HAVE HUGE GUTS

Man, am I the only one who ripped the DOOM Comic Dramatization from YouTube to my HLDJ?

Speaking of obscure DOOM stuff, have any of you played the DOOM Roguelike? It's a roguelike in the vein of Nethack and Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, but instead it's DOOM (and it's simpler). Quite awesome.

What's this 'Doom comic' you people are all talking about?

Feel free to PM me about almost anything and I'll do my best to answer. :)

I'll give you a brief rundown.

Some time in the 90's, the popularity of Doom made some artists snort crack after playing Doom non-stop for 48 hours and somehow being able to write a script in that state and even draw something that vaguely resembles a comic book. They then released it as the Doom comic. It is now a rare collector's item though a digital version is widely available online.

Honestly? Yeah, surprisingly it is. It's absolutely batshit insane, but really fun to read.

Hm. I might look in to it then, thanks.

Watch the dramatization on YouTube. It's even better with vocal accompaniment.
