That was one of the best things that I have ever seen, well done!

The phrases, the yelling, THE SHOTGUN!

Also (call me noob if you want to) what mod is that? Its probably listed somewhere and Im just too stupid to find out.

Brutal Doom. It's compatible with ZDoom.

This is an April Fools joke that has to become real, think geeks Personal Soundtrack Shirt and their 8 bit ties (both were jokes then became real). Also gotta love the line "My psych profile says I kick ass in any enviroment. That's why I am a space marine!" (That's got to be a tshirt)

Ross Scott, please turn this into a real thing and actually release Episodes 1-6, 8-10000000000.

This is awesome exactly because it is just 1 episode, I can't imagine it staying hilarious and awesome for more than 5-8 episodes.

EDIT: Oh and there is one detail that annoys me in this video: Ross didn't mute the default Doom guy's pain grunt, it sticks out like a sore thumb (for me at least).

Don't think there would be any way of doing so without heavy manual audio editing...

Isn't it just a matter of replacing the pain grunt wav with one that is completely silent? Could be done as easily as supplying a little wad, assuming Doom's wad system is hierarchical like the next iD games.

The voice fitted perfectly well with the repeated blasting and violence. Nice work.

Feel free to PM me about almost anything and I'll do my best to answer. :)

I hope that works with Doomsday. Edit: It doesn't work with it, damn.

As for the video, best April Fools video I've seen this year! (I've only seen three)

I love that this is basically just that Doom comic book except funny on purpose. Oddly enough, this, and not Freeman's Mind, is what convinced me that there needs to be an FPS where the main character constantly monologues. Not just the occasional one-liner like Duke Nukem or having a chatterbox support character like Claptrap, the actual main character reacting to damn near everything and telling stories during lulls in the action. With so many shooters being both linear and almost entirely scripted-event-driven, it shouldn't be too hard to design. Just a ton of writing and voice acting involved.

Max Payne 3 does a good job of near-constant narration. Granted, most of Max's dialogue is narration like he's telling the story like a flashback as you play it, and not an actual monologue, but it's a similar concept and I think it at least shows that what you're talking about is possible.

It would have to be really well done too, otherwise it would be really annoying. They would have to be well-acted, clever, and there would have to be enough to where it wouldn't repeat. But if done right, that would be awesome.

I have the perfect comeback. A Spaz-12.

But as you mention, you'd probably get a game that's very much like MP3, i.e. 60% cutscene and 40% corridor shooter... Yes, it's funny to hear a character react to everything, but I feel the machinima/movie genres are a lot more appropriate for that than an actual video game, simply because you won't get a lot of gameplay or interesting interaction with the world. You're just watching and listening at that point.

Few things for sure:

1. Ross probably lost voice for a week or more...

2. Ross needed to realese some steam from valves... :D All that stress with Scource engine, Source Filmmaker and Machinima.

3. We just saw how could events turn if Freeman be a bit dumber character... :D

I felt like this worked well for MP3. Even though the game was VERY linear it was still interesting the whole way though , in large part due to the story. Any game with this style of monologue would have to be linear, but that's not always bad (Though it usually is). But that's off topic.

Slightly more on topic, I can't seem to get Brutal Doom to work and this saddens me.

I have the perfect comeback. A Spaz-12.

Loved this one. Simply great stuff. If you're going to do something like this again, I would suggest Call of Duty. Either the newer MODREN WAFARE stuff or the old, actually decent WWII stuff is fine.

I find it a bit odd you'd use level SIX of episode one to make what is supposedly episode SEVEN. Maybe that level suited itself better to film-making, maybe you just decided to pick a late level and roll with it.
