Half Life 2 Running on Lowest Graphical Settings Possible

I remember seeing this before. Source games are useful for people with performance issues, because there's loads of extra stuff that can be changed via console commands. That video however....that's not low graphical settings, that's DECIMATED graphical settings.

I mean, the textures on the walls aren't just low resolution, they're tiled really oddly too. Then there's the weird colours everywhere, and it's not the lighting as the game seems like its being played on some sort of fullbright mode.

I'd rather play Wolfenstein 3D. At least that looks more appealing while being playable on virtually every computer on the planet after 1992.

I used to play it all the time when i was younger, i would be sitting hours behind my PC trying to get through those mazes. But everything looks the same o.O it gave me a huge headache

OnTopic: I saw that vid before, kind of interesting to see actually. I guess this is what it would look like if your high.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's psychodelic techno hippie HL2! Man, that's scary!

Holy handgrenades, and I thought my computer's settings on it were bad!

All I have to deal with is the shading on everything either making things blindingly bright or pitch black...

I'm an unfortunate individual cursed with the Intel 945 GM graphics card that doesn't like Source games, so until very recently, I couldn't even play...

I used to be able to play Half Life 2 fine, but then they updated it with some new graphic dealies (the same update as with the achievements) last year and then I couldn't play at all for a long time...

I'm not even entirely sure how I'm playing now...

I HAVE to blow everything up! It's the only way to prove I'm not CRAZY!

I played with these settings on portal. I made a video ill post it when its uploaded.

That's gotta be interesting.

I liked the video, even if the game is obviously not ready for those settings. Is it possible to achieve something like that in Half-Life 1? It would probably look better, without the shadows and stuff.

Im uploading right now.

I also made the first half the game on the very highest settings, so you can really see just how bad it is.

EDIT:

Its up.

That doesn't look like Portal, it looks like a mod for it. What is the mod?

I used to run TF2 like that when my GPU was a 7100GS... 1 YEAR AGO D:

I would also like to know this, looks like a Portal 2 inspired mod.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking.

Looks like you managed to get some kind of override going that sets all models and textures to the maximum distance LOD.

I bet those horrible color artifacts are the reflections of their shaders on local cubemaps.

This is a nice metric server. No imperial dimensions, please.

Heh. It looks like Minecraft!

Still, I think it's an abomination. Half-Life 2 is one of the prettiest games I've ever played! I could never play it like that.

I personally push the graphics to the max and run it at 1920x1080.

I think Minecraft looks very retro, it reminds me a lot of old DOS games.
