Half-Life or Half-Life 2?

Have to go with the original... Just simply because I can't do it in under 2 hours, and I can do HL2 in about 45min. (not including any cutscenes)

I had to go for HL2, gone through it more times, theres Alyx and the Gravity Gun, and there are actual characters besides G-Man.

 

Character interaction sequences aren't cutscenes, cutscenes are like watching a short film without any player interaction.

Of course I can't do those. If I could, I'd have my own vid on there... However, if you take out the scenes where there is nothing to do, load times, and the few cutscenes, I can do it with a total of 45-50 min playtime.

actually they cut load times;the few scenes where there is nothing to do (like black mesa east,kleiner lab,dr.breen lame threats,etc)they speed them up by glitching the NPCs and making they teleport,all this scenes together wouldnt consume more than half an hour so you still would have to beat the whole game in 1h and 20 minutes .(That would demand insane BH skills and deep knowledge about Source glitchs)

BTW the fastest speedrun for HL1 is 29 minutes.

I don't use glitches, and as far as I can tell, bunny hopping slows you down now.

Not sure about BH nowadays,i will check it later,but anyway , if you have any hope of beating HL2 in 50 minutes without glitches and a working BH then i got to ask:Have you ever played HL2? I am feeling that overall EP2 would win that poll because it drives the story forward. And EP1 well didn't.

It's all about the people who don't really know better. Just look at the professional reviews of MW2 compared to the reviews from everyone else... The pros all rated it as barely making the mediocre level, and everyone else made it look like the best game ever released. It's all in how many noobs vote.

BGT, it has nothing to do with how much of a "noob" you are. There are many valid points in this topic in why they preferred HL2.

I admit, though, that if I were to judge the games based on comparison with what was out at the time, I'd say HL1 gets the prize, because it inspired many future games. But in this topic we discuss the game that WE liked the most, and I felt better playing HL2 than HL1.

And that's your opinion, and I never said you were a noob, just that polls on opinions are always going to be completely inaccurate when you expect the people voting to know anything about what the topic is about.

I like the fact that HL2 has a more in-depth story and more characters, but the original is just awesome. It was amazing when it first came out; I remember being five or six and playing it while sitting on my dad's lap.

 

I'd have to go with the second, though, even if I hate to choose one over the other. Simply because I'd rather play the second currently.
