France and her allies, including Russia and Sweden, just declared war on me in Victoria II. I'm playing as Germany, around the 1870's or so. My army is in shambles from two separate wars with Austria, and five with the Netherlands. France is ridiculously powerful, Russia has twice my population, and Sweden is north of me, meaning I've got three Great Powers about to attack me from three directions.

Mobilizing reserves. Incoming shitstorm.

Worrying about Felix's insurance premiuhhh- I mean his leg.

Oh, Twilight, dafuq did you do to egg them on. Sign a fucking treaty or some shit. Don't make any agressive advances (Fuck, I don't know how this game works. Don't listen to me  )

Well, that's the thing. I did absolutely nothing. My infamy (Basically the 'everyone hates you for waging too much war' score) was at zero, whereas France and Britain were both between 5-10 or so. France just randomly decided to declare war (They wanted East Prussia) and their allies joined in. As for treaties, I have several allies, including the Two Sicilies (Basically half of modern Italy), Spain, and Belgium. Belgium is nice to have, especially since they seem to be taking the brunt of the French offensive for the moment, and most of my 'small' allies are sending their troops to fight Russia, which has allowed me to pull most of my troops from that line to fortify my border with France (Which, mercifully, is quite short). Spain is getting destroyed. They can't match France in industry, manpower, troop quality, or anything else. They're a distraction, at best, but a helpful one since there's probably just under 100,000 French soldiers invading it right now.

I'll make you a suggestion. Either give up East Prussia without a fight and take it back another day when your forces are greater, or burn a path to the south through Austria and Czechoslovakia, taking their land but keeping your armies safe from them French bastards.

Bah, I thought of that for all of ten seconds before I said no. That would put both the French and the Russians to my East, Austria to the south, Sweden up North, and the rest of France on my western border isn't going anywhere either.

Belgium is getting sacrificed. I'm using the time that France is spending occupying it to let my reserves get organized (That takes a long time. Until they get organized they are basically useless). It'll take a month, at least, for them to occupy Belgium, and by then I should have my reserves in place on the French-Belgian border. That will leave the French facing 120,000 dug in reservists in fortified provinces (good thing I built those forts). Since our border is so short, I should be able to rotate them out regularly, to keep my most effective units on the front at all times while the others recuperate. In addition, I'm keeping them busy in Baden and Württemberg, attacking their smaller armies with overwhelming force to keep them from securing the area, which would allow them to move into Germany proper, from the south.

I'm using the time all this is buying me to rebuild my standing army. I organize my standing army into Korps, labelled with Roman Numerals. Soldier for soldier, they're the best fighting force in the world. They're well equipped, experienced, and each one consists of 27,000 men, including 15,000 'Guards' (The best infantry you can make) and two brigades apiece of artillery and cavalry. I've built my army like this because I struggle with Manpower, especially since I'm surrounded by powerful enemies. By the time the line is in danger of being broken, I should have at least 3 or 4 of my Korps in fighting shape again, and I can basically use them as a strategic reserve by shuffling them to provinces where it looks like a breakthrough is imminent, then pull them back when the battle is won, so they can reinforce and get organized again. Russia is trickier. They've already entered Eastern Germany, and I don't have the troops available to repel them. I'm hoping to counterattack when I get my army back into shape and force them to accept a white peace separately from France, which is basically a ceasefire.

No room for fuckups here, to say the least.

Edit: Ugh, I'd say I'm getting off topic. Sorry. I really need to put my thoughts into words with this kind of thing, and Pinkie (The usual victim) isn't around at the moment. Is this bothering anyone?

It's not off-topic if it's what you're doing right now, and it's certainly not bothering me personally. :P

However, considering it seems to be quite the saga, you might be better off making a separate thread for it all in the "Gaming in general" section, as it's quite interesting to read.

Feel free to PM me about almost anything and I'll do my best to answer. :)
