Last night I emailed the SFM team telling them why I deserve to be in the beta, and today I got in. I'd suggest doing the same if you think you're very qualified. Keep in mind though, there's no invite process. The SFM just showed up in my games list this afternoon with no message from Valve.

Heh, I have a great idea for something I'd like to make with the SFM, but am I qualified? I doubt it. I expect I'll have to wait until it's fully released, I certainly don't deserve preferential selection.

 

EDIT: Ye Gods it just appeared in my Games Library (around 10 hours after I made this post).

 

EDIT2: Because it's been official released! Well that was a short beta! This should be fun!
