I just heard some rumours that valve and apple are developing a console. If this is true then we are all fucked.....

If valve is developing a console I'd expect it to hit the market around late 2013. But then factor in good ol valve time, looks like march 20015.

Good, because Valve SHOULD stay out of the console market. Their strength lies in making good PC games and PC software distribution.

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be The Steam Box, which has a thread. But it was meant to be like a device dedicated to Steam gaming, so you don't have to deal with all those other processes while playing a game, but nothing really beats having Firefox, TF2, iTunes, and some other shit just because you feel like it, all up at once on your kickass Power PC... *sighs*

Supposed to be? Perhaps you are thinking of Steam's upcoming 'Big Picture' mode?

No, big picture mode was announced a long time before this rumour.

I'd rather have big picture mode than any dedicated hardware just to play Steam games. Seems useless when any modern PC with a HD graphics adapter can be hooked to a HDTV via HDMI anyway.

If someone plays Valve games often on their PC and they need better framerate they could spend the $200+ on a fantastic GPU, or CPU for overall speed. They should just stick to making games every 5 or 6 years and not let any of them have the number "3" in them.

Anyone know how steam on ps3 is working out ? I havent tried it (and Im not going to).
