Anyway, yeah, I blame Steam servers, or maybe a firewall issue...?

Have you tried restarting your router? Every so often, I have to unplug and plug the router/modem in to get the rig up and running.

Steam works beautifully on my Mac. So do all of Valve's games.

I'm sure PC and Mac users face some of the same problems. The problem might be Steam's servers themselves.

Wifi, no wire. But as I said before, I got problems ONLY with this update, so I think it might be a Steam Server problem, not mine.

Alright, what I would recommend in that case is completely deleting Steam and all of its assets, and then re-downloading and installing it from steampowered.com . (Steam's extra assets will be stored in "[your home folder]/Library/Application Support/Steam").
