So, have any of you heard of this series called Half Life?

There is no official news regarding when Episode 3 will be released, or any data on it apart from the Concept art released last year. Any information apart from that is either conjecture, hypothesis or lies.

Would you mind not calling it Episode 3? By now it's obviously going to be Half-Life 3 and not Half-Life 2 Episode 3. Why else would they spend so much time on it? The episodic installments were meant to be released more closely together to act more or less like short expansion missions to Half-Life 2, like Episode 1 and 2 were. By all logic would that mean there's not anymore episodes coming out.

The engine isn't new, just newer iterations of the same Engine. They've also stated that Episode 3 will probably be their last game on Source.

 

Source Engine was great in its time, and even today its highly malleable and adaptable as well as well-written, but some of their features compared to nowandays, are showing their wrinkles.

I think the greatest strength of the Source engine is its backwards compability with older low-end systems.

Yeah, until it's no longer compatible with newer tech... (it's getting close with no 64-bit support)

Valve really has this thing about working on 20 other games at once. i really dont know why HL ep 3 is taking so long and why theres soo many delays (no one dose but Valve) The only thing we can do as a gaming community is hope the next release date is real. Also not to make fat jokes on gabe.

I dont know if it is that wrong,as you can see,the difference between HL1 storyline/background and HL2 storyline/background is huge,THE WHOLE WORLD CHANGED,its obvious that the next HL game will be an immediate sequel to HL2:E2 ending,so if they are going to name it properly, based on storyline/scenario, they most likely will have to name it Episode 3

I think we can all agree that Ross will most likely be done with the first Half Life game for Freeman's Mind before Valve even gives us more info on Half Life ep 3/Half Life 3.
