And thus, instant cult classic.

 

People would show up to Midnight showings dressed as characters while making live puns on popular lines.

And several decades later they'd ruin it with crappy remake after crappy remake until one company has the balls to make a vdeo game despite those crappy remakes and it's SO good the whole world forgets the movies ever existed.
