Writing VMFs

I began my texturing career in May, making BG2 skins for my clan. Now, I'm joining the development team as their texture artist, and they asked me if i knew how to make a VFM text for normals. I replied I did not, and the guy said that might be a problem.

 

Anyone here can give me easy info on how to do this? I plan to copy-paste the text from other VMFs, but I want to know how to deal with the phong and stuff like that.

 

Help please?

VMF is a Valve map file used by Hammer for mapping in the source engine.

 

I don't know much about texturing, but I'm sure this is the sort of stuff you do in the VMT and not the VMF?
