I, personally, am pumped to get this game. Here's basically what it is:

Yeah, so it's kind of awesome. Whatever you have to post about it, post here.

That looks actually really fun. Especially the whole momentum thing and just the movement in general.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I hate you Applejack...

What's your favorite class? I think mine's going to be Jumper.

Well seeing as how:

A. I'm not willing to spend roughly $5.20 per class.

B. The token system gives you so few tokens per match so as to almost force you to buy new classes.

I've pretty much been mastering Ranger and Soldier. Though I may end up getting Technician when I grind up 15000 fucking tokens (Currently at 2000 after dedicating myself to this game ever since I got the key). From what I recall, he's focused around base upkeep, and since I seem to be one of the few guys actually repairing shit...yeah. Also, I kind of hate the business model.

I love you, yet can't stand to know you exist.

Well, they have to make money somehow. If it was easy to get tokens, nobody would but anything and they would go bankrupt. I'm pretty sure that returning flags and capturing gives you lots of tokens, though (500 is what I heard)

That's credits, the things you use to upgrade stuff or buy vehicles in a match. Tokens are used to buy classes (and ONLY classes at this point). The average token turnout is in the 60-90 range at the end of a match. 100-120 if you do extremely well (not taking into account boosters, but those are a reasonable idea). Now boosters always give an extra 100 or so tokens, I think, which certainly helps ease the grind. But 15,000 tokens per class just seems to be asking too much, even with the booster packs because they turn a 215 game grind to around a 75 game grind. Designing the game in a way to make unlocking stuff for free a pain in the ass but still reasonably possible to encourage buying stuff is fine. Essentially locking out the free players from the content is not.

Then there's the strange situation where a booster makes the grind easier and can lead to a few classes is not much more expensive than just buying the classes. Especially since if a player is really good they could buy a month-long booster and grind out all the classes, saving the extra $35 which would have gone to buying $50 worth of gold to buy all classes. The store model just doesn't make sense when you look at it. Neither from the developer's bank's perspective nor from the player's perspective.

Oh, okay. I got it. I still think it's okay as long as they're making money and it's not IMPOSSIBLE to unlock classes.

Here are my questions to AJ.

1. How do you earn tokens through a gameplay?

2. Do you get tokens for leveling up?

3. If you get tokens for kills or flag caps, how many for each?

I've played the game for about 2 hours and I've gotten around 230 tokens. At this rate I'll have a new class in approx. 130 hours. :|

You get tokens at the end of a match based on performance. If you do terribly, you get around 30. If you do alright, 50-70. If you do "Holy shit that was awesome" good, then you get 110-150. Your rank does not influence token turnout (At least not yet anyway, the game's still in beta). I'm not sure if accolades like "Flag Grab" or "Spinfusor Airshot" influence token amount by themselves. I think it's just based around what your overall score is at the end.

Sort of like how in Call of Duty, your CoD points were 10% of the points you earned in the match? (plus any medals, contracts, or milestones you unlocked.)

Sort of. Only it's not something normal like 10%, and more like "We don't want you getting too many tokens without a booster"%. So if I get 10,000 Points/Credits, that turns out as around 80 tokens.

Okay, that's a little bit of Bullshit there but you'll still be able to unlock at some point, right???

If you are freakishly dedicated to the game, you would most likely have your very first non-standard class unlocked in around 2-3 weeks without paying for any boosters or gold. And when I say freakishly dedicated I mean no other games, no real life attractions, and no porn (Unless you are also good at multi-tasking/like the light classes' slender-ish figures) distracting you. Assuming you are consistently doing well in most or all matches, of course. So if you actually have a social life (I kind of don't) and/or are of average skill, you'll be looking at a month-ish or longer to unlock one class based on my guesstimate. And Pre-Calculus is currently my best subject in school, so obviously my guesstimation holds scientimiferrific meritasm (I think this would fry Blue's brain if he saw it).

I've been playing for around a week and broke 3000 tokens yesterday.

Yeah, okay, that's bullshit. Not letting people even play part of the game that matters most (class-based gameplay doesn't work with 2 classes) is downright greedy and ridiculous. Hopefully, things might change after beta.

Selling the classes is the crutch of their F2P model, so unless they can cough up some amazing hats to put on our characters, I doubt they'll become free.

Oh, Axeldeath. You so silly! And BTW, Where the hell is Steve?! Atlas is dumb...

Edit: I don't know exactly what they did, but there's TDM now and they made it easier to unlock classes without paying.
