Know any good games?

I'm trying to introduce a friend in to gaming what games are the best so I can show him them.

What genre is he into? I know of a few good shooter games, but not much else.

 

Some good FPSes are: Team Fortress 2, all of the Half Life games, Counter Strike 1.6/Counter Strike: Source, Quake 3, and the two Left 4 Dead games.

I would introduce him by some of his interests.

Does he like puzzles? If yes, then Portal 2.

Does he like Role Playing? If yes, Oblivion (or wait for Skyrim) or Fallout 3 (or New Vegas, doesn't really matter which).

Does he like Anime? If yes, introduce him with Catherine or something (there is a whole library of Anime style games on PS2, that might be a good place to look)

Does he like action, if yes, introduce him with Gears of War, Call Of Duty (Gonna get shit for this), Battlefield Bad Company 2 (BF3 beta is too much of a hassle right now, it's not a good idea).

I also love TF2 and pretty much anything by Valve. You could try the new, FREE Battlefield 3 Beta, too

I would say that goes without saying because the Free For All forum is open to really any topic there is but the Gaming In General forum is about gaming specifically.

3. guitar hero: Metallica (Rhythm, music)---------------i can play on expert, good for geeking out on guitar, RV very High

4. Cod: MW2 (FPS, sniping) (don't hate me)------------i love the sniping, pretty good game RV High

5. Halo Reach (FPS, Combat)--------------------------in general all the Halos are good, i recommend them all. RV Very High

6. Mortal Kombat 2011 (fighting, adventure)-----------good stress relief, beating final boss is very difficult. RV pretty High

7. Half Life 1/2 (FPS, Combat)------------------------both are great everyone here knows these games. RV Moderate

8. Fallout 3 (RPG, Combat, sandbox game)---------------------------i like it at first. it got sorta boring to me :/ RV low

9. Guitar hero III (Rhythm, music)--------------------a game i like to fall back on when i'm bored. RV very High

10. Grand theft auto 4 (open world(sandbox game), Platformer, Shooter)--Great for mayhem. RV Pretty High
