It's worth the buy in my opinion, but I'd rather have the real thing.

Well, there's a lot of decent games if you wanna get into Mega Drive games. Has the best of them. If you're into retro games regardless of nostalgia I really recommend it.

i can't get the online play to work. i know it has something to do with the IPX not working for win7 because it's obsolete.

It is possible, I believe I got it working on Vista which had the same issue. This was a while ago though.

There are fixes for that issue, just search on Google.

I highly doubt you'll be able to search for games, but you should be able to connect to someone else who has the game.
