Q & A Thread

Recommended Posts

I'd actually say a bit in-between. At school, my Android phone. At home, my laptop.

Do you enjoy watching movies at a cinema? Or would you rather the comfort of home?

I love watching big spectacular films on the big screen. Especially in 3D. But I actually watch most movies at home, on DVD. I suppose, I like the big thing but in moderation :D Also, having free time at the right moment is often an issue...

My question: How do you listen to music? Do you see it primarily as a background for something else you might be doing at the moment or would you listen to something specifically to enjoy the music and not do anything else while you're at it?

Regards

I saw a $100 Toblerone chocolate once. XD It was huge. But on average, restaurants usually serve really expensive food. $30 for a steak. Some damn good steak though. I love steak, I want steak so bad now.

Do you have a fire extinguisher in your house? Apparently that's common in some countries. o.O Not here though.

Yeah there's one in the garage, gotta be prepared for those out of control flames that sneak up on you. Just like those bushfires ravaging Aus. every summer.

How are you on new years resolutions? Do you set them? Do you keep them?

I plan on staying home for the most part, but going to my sister's the day after. Midnight Mass is gonna be good though.

How much floppy drive music have you heard?

A fair amount, though I haven't searched for any for a good while now. A personal favourite is 'He's A Pirate' by the same guy.

Do you own any bow ties, real or clip fastened?

I have one of each... I leave the full one tied loosely enough that I can slip my head through, and then use a safety pin to hold a fold of it together to cinch it down. I also loathe wearing any tie that has no function. (with a regular tie you can at least wipe your mouth or blow your nose, with a bolo tie you have a spare shoelace or garrote or tourniquet or etc., with a bowtie you have a silly-looking piece of cloth choking you)

Have you ever used the METAR/TAF weather reporting system? (I use it almost exclusively myself)

No, since I have no idea what that even is! I just look at the sky. If its grey, it might rain. If its blue, it porbably won't.

Do people really think that the Christmas Pickle is a German tradition? (Please tell me they don't.)

So, I looked up the Christmas pickle thing and I can now say that yes, yes I do believe it's a German tradition. Indeed.

Is anyone else still kind of stunned at what the whole concept of a comic book movie has turned into the last five years or so? The Avengers, The Dark Knight...

I wouldn't say 'stunned' exactly. More *that sound you sometimes make when rolling your eyes*

As a non-reader of comic books, I can only assume that most of the films are adapting pre-existing storylines for live action. I guess it's a good way of introducing them to a generation that uses computer screens more than books.

This oft-stereotyped 'nerd culture' has pretty much become mainstream. And because of that, output is very refined, polished, and generally easy to digest.

All that said, I still want to watch all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What's so good about bacon?

The flavor, and the fact that you can use the bacon grease to cook stuff in and get a lot of the bacon flavor into it. (bacon grease burgers are great, as is bacon grease eggs) Note: Bacon is very different from any other pork product. It has lots of fat, and no gristle. (and contrary to popular idiot beliefs, ingested fat does not put fat on your hips and waist)

Why are there people out there that still believe the Body Mass Index is the real deal? (it was an unresearched hypothetical situation presented by a college student, and somehow was adopted for everything from gym assessments, to military registration requirements)

According to the BMI stuff, I'm severely anorexic. X3 Coool... I guess? I'm just a really small person. XD But it pisses me off because that's how I'm supposed to address myself to any medical staff or forms. "Are you anorexic?" Check. *sighs*

I hate it, and I wish it would go die already. XD I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. "I'm technically anorexic." "Eww, so you're really really thin and you can see your bones and all that?" Noooooooooo... nononono.

But to answer your question - no fucking clue!

How many different states and countries have you been to?

I've been to 20 states in the US (WA, OR, CA, ID, WY, SD, NE, MN, MO, WI, IL, TN, KY, OH, WV, VA, PA, MD, DE, and NJ) and two countries (US and Canada--BC and ON)

Born in MD, live in WA.

If you could live in any country in the world that is not the one you're living in now, what would it be?

Gosh, so many abbreviations I don't understand. XD The US has too many states, dammit! But wow, you've gotten around!

A: The UK probably... but it might be a bit too cold there for my liking. X3 Better than any other place though. XD Australia is just... the perfect place for me. So if I can stay, I'll stay. XP

Q: What's one of the most stupidest theories/ideas/beliefs you had when you were a kid?

Gosh, so many abbreviations I don't understand. XD The US has too many states, dammit! But wow, you've gotten around!

But still only 2/5 of all the possible states.

WA, OR, CA, ID, WY, SD, NE, MN, MO, WI, IL, TN, KY, OH, WV, VA, PA, MD, DE, and NJ

=

Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey.

Some states (highlighted in bold) I stayed in for a while (either because I lived there or I vacationed there); the rest I just passed through.

(I'll let someone else take this question)

Thing is, most of those states are larger than most countries. Best way to think of the USA is 50 countries under an overarching authority. (similar to a better integrated version of the EU)

(I'll let someone else take this question)
Q: What's one of the most stupidest theories/ideas/beliefs you had when you were a kid?

Can't seem to remember any that were stupid... I have always based my theories/ideas/beliefs on logical connections between information that I have at my disposal, and change them if new information arises that contradict existing theories/ideas/beliefs. Some may seem somewhat stupid to people who now have more knowledge than I did back then, but all that I have asked to evaluate the theories/ideas/beliefs based on a limited knowledge set have all agreed that they were logically valid theories/ideas/beliefs.

In short, stupid theories/ideas/beliefs only exist if you persist in them when there is incontrovertible evidence contradicting them, and I have never had any of those.

Have you ever been so allergic to something that you thought you might have a risk of dying, yet not have any idea what caused it?

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.
